Boat hooks can live a harsh life, and we broke two familiar name-brand extendable boat hooks last month -- they failed in classic ways: one broke at the plastic "hook" business end when a crew pushed off, and the other folded and snapped at the extended aluminum pole during man-overboard drills. Although it would have been less expensive to just buy two more of the same, I opted to build my own by combining this carbon fiber pole with a stainless steel end fitting (https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/416OMBKXZtL._AC_SL1000_.jpg).I wrapped the threaded end of the pole with Teflon plumbing tape and filled the socket of the metal hook with epoxy. The epoxy formed a female receptacle around the male plug while the Teflon tape barrier prevented them from bonding. Cured, the hook threads on tightly but can be removed so that the pole can be used with a different threaded attachment such as a deck brush. I am extremely pleased with the result -- a very strong and lightweight boat hook that should last a very long time. It is described as "floating", and probably will hold some trapped air for awhile, but I plan to cut and fit a four-inch section from an orange pool noodle around the pole below the hook to ensure that it floats if it escapes overboard.On the QUALITY x COST graph this falls in the HIGH-HIGH quadrant. Not a bargain, but I don't expect to find myself holding a broken boat hook again. YMMV.

This lightweight carbon fibre extension pole fits perfectly into the handle of my paint roller.The sliding joints were a tad too loose for my liking but the right size Allen key was included in the storage sock and it snugged everything up tight in no time.The three sections give you a wide range of lengths and the cam locks hold each joint firmly.This pole is made of carbon fibre so it is strong enough to take a fair amount of strain but remember that carbon fibre will carry an electric current so be aware of that if you use this tool out of doors.If a painting project is in the cards this pole should reduce the number of times you have to climb up that kitchen ladder.

Other than the bother factor of having to tighten screws, it is a nice pole. Would recommend.

My General Comments:I have a 4 foot extension pole that extends out to 8 feet for painting ceilings. Additionally, I have a fixed 4 foot extension pole for sanding. Both are significantly heavier than the DOBEN 3 foot pole, which weighs about ½ pound. Being a little older, the reduced weight is a definite benefit.A 7-inch paint roller adds about 15 inches to the DOBEN, making it approximately 4 feet and 3 inches in length. I do not currently have any DOBEN attachments for dusting, cobweb removal, or window washing, but they look like quality add-ons.My Thoughts About the DOBEN Carbon Fiber Extension Pole:Pros:Well packaged and protected with a cloth casing.Carbon fiber construction, not aluminum.Lightweight.Beautiful black carbon fiber color.Easy-to-operate locking mechanisms that extend the pole up to 3 feet.Ideal for painting my 8-foot-high walls.Cons:None currently.Bottom Line: At $30, it’s a good buy. From a look and packaging perspective, and after a short dry run evaluating the locking mechanisms, I give it a 5 out of 5. It will be my go-to extension pole for painting my walls. From an operating perspective, I give it a 4 out of 5 because I have not used it sufficiently to know how it operates in the long term.

Firstly, this extension pole IS more expensive than readily available alternatives, and it really is just an extension pole. So honestly, if all you have is a one time not very demanding need, this is probably overkill for your requirements. That doesn't mean you shouldn't consider it, just that it might not be necessary for limited needs.But as the specifications indicate carbon fibre is much stronger and more durable than for instance aluminum, and this pole will give years of sturdy service when perhaps lesser quality products will not.I will touch on one aspect here that is also well covered in many of the previous reviews (which I urge you to read as many of as possible), the package includes an allen key which is used to tighten or loosen the locking clamps which hold the pole in the desired position. I missed this on the first pass and was wondering why the locks didn't hold in place. Thankfully those previous reviews came in very handy to edumicate me to proper care and usage. Once tightened up to the needed degree the pole is rock solid in use. Reading prior reviews also indicated why this arrangement was used as it allows the locks to be entirely removed so that the pole can be completely cleaned of paint which could interfere with future operation. This seems a very useful feature if you do a lot of work requiring the use of this device.All in all, this is a solid, long lasting pole which is probably more than you need for minor or one time work, but will serve you well if you have lots to do or are in a more commercial environment.

Seems fairly light weight and sturdy. The carbon fiber does seem like a wrap, as others have stated. But it's ok for my use case. I am using it occasionally for rock climbing stick clip, and it won't bother my hand.

Pros:- Strong and sturdy- Metal top accessory attachment screw- Hex key included for adjustments- Locks securely in place- Will not twist if the extension locks are adjusted properlyCons:- Extension locks require optimal tightness for the adjustment screws- Adjustment takes longer because it uses 2 screws per extension lockThe Doben 3 FT Carbon Fiber Extension Pole is of decent build quality and feels strong. The top accessory attachment screw is made of metal. It comes with a hex key to tighten the 2 extension locks if needed. Each pole extension can twist if you do not tighten the extension locks. However, if you tighten the extension locks too much, it becomes less smooth to extend the pole. So there is an optimal tightness here for the extension locks. Each extension lock has 2 hex screws for adjustments, so there is some experimentation to find the best tightness for each screw. In my experience, most other extension locks only need a one-screw adjustment but not 2 of them. Therefore, the screw adjustment time takes a little longer than others. However, once properly adjusted, the extensions lock in place very well.I use this pole as a middle leg to add support to a drooping DIY fibreboard tabletop, and it has fitted the bill nicely. With at least 15 lb of loading on the pole, the pole and the extension locks stayed in place without slipping. I am happy this makeshift pole works nicely for my purpose. A great order for me!

My last paint roller extension pole snapped the very first day I used it. Extremely inconvenient. Prior to that, I would've thought a carbon fiber extension pole was overkill. But because of that incident, I realized how important it is to have an extension pole that is very strong and rigid, and so I jumped at the chance to order this one. And it delivers on every metric. It is truly carbon fiber, and thus, I can't imagine it ever snapping/breaking. I have full confidence of being able to exert whatever force I want with the pole fully extended. The entire pole is very high quality, including the latches used to lock the pole in to my selected length. It is sufficient for comfortably painting 10- to 12-foot ceilings (and more, depending upon the user's height/reach), and that makes painting a room so much easier. But if you're looking to use it for very high ceilings (15+ feet), it's not well suited for that kind of job. Again, as I expect this pole to last a lifetime, it's an incredible value. But even if it only lasted 5 years, it would still be a good value.

I got this painting extension pole to connect to an adjustable roll holder that I have. Even though they are different brands, it fit perfectly.Each joint extends 1.5 feet and hold very sturdily when locked down. I am 5'10" and it allowed me to reach the top of my 10 foot walls when my arm is extended. I was able to easily paint my new apartment with accent walls using this extension pole.
