I already have tinnitus, so I wear -60db sound reduction headphones. Even with those on, I could tell this was putting out some high energy sound. I took the headphones off for just a second, applied 12v and yup. Loud.This siren is your typical backup alarm pulsing sound. A constant 12v is the source. So whatever you hook this up too, as long as you give it 12v on a switch or relay, you're done.The plastic is sturdy, and the positive/negative posts have 2 lock washers and a nut.If it lasts, its a solid, loud alarm for the money.

I bought this back up alarm for my wife's car. She is a very careful driver but not so the other people at the grocery store, not to mention the brain fogged pedestrians.People will walk out in front of you and not even look to see if a car is coming.There attention is focused on a cell phone and they will walk out into your path while you are backing out of a parking space without the slightest regard for getting run over.So, to protect my wife from nasty debates and language I put this on her car with a switch on the dash to turn it off if say, she is at a funeral or wedding or such an event that it is a nusience to everyone.

Put this on my plow truck for saftey concerns. Plenty loud for people to hear me. Easy to hook up it's literally 1 wire. Seems to be good quality and functions perfectly fine.
