Will turn on when the power goes out, plus can use as a flashlight for simple stuff around the house. Can even be a nitelight if you are scared of the dark you wussy.

I lost power at night during a winter storm, and these worked really well. I wasn’t fumbling around in the dark trying to find lanterns and flashlights. The rooms lit up, and I could unplug them and use as a flashlight. I only lost power for about 4 hours, and they were still bright.

I bought two of these for my elderly parents. This provides light in the night and they can use it as a flashlight if necessary. A good product.

These are just what we were looking for. We have another brand that we've used for years quite successfully. But, because we live very rurally our outages can last for several hours. These are bright yet dimmable. Another nice feature is that the charging base swivels and allows the nightlight to face the wall to reduce the glare. Just after purchasing them we had a power outage and they performed perfectly. We're very happy with our selection!

I have had a couple of these for many years, one in the bedroom. Two nights ago the electricity went off in my whole neighborhood at about 2 AM. I was the first to know because, as soon as the power went off, this light went on.The light woke me up, I immediately knew what had happened, looked out the window and saw that all the street lights and neighboring lights were off, so I called the police and was the first to inform them.They thanked me and told me they would call the utilities to inform them. Before Dawn the electric company was outside repairing some equipment which had broken down.These flashlights are safe and effective. I also use them when something small rolls under the bed or in some other dark nook or cranny.I am so impressed with them that I bought some more for myself and another half dozen to give as holiday gifts. They may be a good gift for the person who has everything but didn't think about this.In this uncertain world it's something very handy to have and keep plugged in some place where young children cannot get to it.

I've had the earlier version of these for more than 20 years & love them.They're def bright enough I rarely use a REAL flashlight any more.With run times of more than an hour @ full brightness & NO $$ batteries,it's the answer to a LOT of questions.I have one in almost every room in my house.When we had the power outage of almost a week a few years back, used one or twoat a time at low setting as dim room illumination & at brighter mode, for reading. Managed to usenothing but the ones in my house for the entire 5+ days.They're easier to operate & lighter than competing models.

I bought a set of these 9 years ago for my parents and was always going to get one of my own. They have changed them since then, so I am skeptical. They are very lightweight, fit oddly loose into the base. And as someone else mentioned, this came in a plastic bubble wrap bag with a teeny, tiny "booklet" that is barely readable. I question whether this product even came directly from Capstone to be sold like this in a bag.So far, no issues and the fact that it fits loosely is not a problem. Its a great little flashlight as well that is always where I left it.

It's very bright and I love that I can adjust so many things. On the higher setting while plugged in, the nightlight is bright enough to completely light up my foyer and brighten both my living room and hallway (around a corner) enough to move around safely. On the lower setting it's just enough light for moving around the foyer. I was worried about the effectiveness of the cradle charger since the light just sits loosely inside (nothing grabs or clicks to secure it in place), but the simplicity is actually quite convenient, and the flashlight hasn't fallen out of the charging base yet. You can spin the flashlight in the charging base to aim wherever is best and it will still charge. You can set it to always stay on as a nightlight, be motion activated (which is very sensitive and detects me walking well in advance from across the room), or just stay off while charging. Using it as a flashlight is just as bright with brightness options, and easy to figure out as well. The included instructions are very simplistic and easy to follow so you don't overlook any of the features. It's definitely a good buy and worth the extra money.
