Your cart is empty.This universal Phenolic fuel pump insulator works with all domestic V8's except Ford Cleveland's and Oldsmobile's. The Phenolic material will limit the transfer of heat from the block into the fuel pump, therefore keeping the fuel passing through it cooler. It installs easily between the fuel pump and the mounting boss on mechanical fuel pumps.

I'm giving a 3 star because It should come with the longer bolts for the added spacer. But other than that it's working good.

I had an old 1967 Mercury Cougar I was working on; the customer stated that on hot days the vehicle would idle rough and stall after driving for 15-20 minutes. I started checking the fuel system and found that I was getting air bubbles out of the mechanical fuel pump. Using my infrared thermometer, I found that the engine block and the fuel pump were both the same temperature, causing the ethanol in the fuel to vaporize at high engine temperatures. I filled the tank up with ethanol-free fuel and installed this spacer between the block and the pump. After the installation, I let the engine get up to temperature and checked the temperature of the block and pump. This little spacer dropped the temperature of the fuel pump by 69F. This fixed the problem and I stopped getting bubbles in the fuel system. Although this product isn't something you'll use everyday, it does come in really handy. It lets you keep the vehicle looking original (without having to install an electric pump) and preserve the original performance.
