Love the way the paint goes on. Better than some canvases I've used

I purchased this canvas paper for a beginner's painting class that I'm teaching. I was horribly embarrassed when my students tried to use it for their oil paintings (and it does specify that it works well for oil paints). The paper soaked up the paint like paper towels. We were trying a technique in which you tone the surface with a wash of oil paint, then wipe out the lights with a rag. Nothing special about this technique; artists have been doing this for ages. The surface absorbed the paint to the extent that none could be pulled out with a rag. Furthermore, my students found it difficult to manipulate the paint at all, even when not trying to wipe out the lights. I've been oil painting for 25 years, and have never encountered this problem before. I had to gesso over the rest of the cavas paper sheets to make them acceptable as oil painting surfaces.

I love the texture and quality of this paper for acrylic paints. When we want to frame the finished pieces, they display beautifully.
