For heavy paintings - I use two - One per side in conjunction with my 'Shades Moulding Hooks" - and - 'O Rings.' They work great.

This is strong enough sash chain, but it doesn't look like copper at all. It's clearly steel. I guess I'll see if it rusts or how ever else it is going to wear over time. Why can't I find actual brass or bronze sash chain to restore 100 year old wood windows with?

Happy with the fit of the chain through my (100yr old) sash pulleys. Although I would like to replace these 4 windows w/new, I just can't! The glass adds so much, plus they windows are in great shape. I was glad to find sash chain. A nice plus were the "fixtures", spirals for the sash and hooks for the sash weights!

Color is copper glow, bonus is my box came with weight hooks and spiral window attachment. Chain is strong and will definitely handle a lot of weight

I manage many older properties in Savannah, GA and often need to replace original window sashes (Historic District requirement). I find this chain to be attractive with its copper looking finish. Much better than the cotton sash cord it replaces. Should outlast the sashes. If I could just keep the painters from painting the chain when they paint the windows!

Should last forever versus rope and it actually still pretty quiet as you operate the sashes due to the constant tension from the weights (I was worried chain would rattle or clank). As someone else mentioned, it comes with a bag of steel coils to replace knots, and hooks to attach to your weight. My only disappointment was the actual color of the copper which is not so much like a penny but far more 'rosie' colored. I started with a small out of the way window, but I may try to patina the copper plating before installing in other rooms.UPDATE: I bought this chain expecting it to slowly age into a brown old penny patina. I started installing this in a closet window that I wasn't too worried about the appearance of with the plan to add a patina later for windows in living areas. I purchased some aging solution to dip the chain in before installing to turn it brown but it didn't work. I thought there was something wrong with my solution so I put a new penny in there and it turned blue/black in a ten minutes or so with no change in the 'copper' chain. Then, I thought maybe they put a coating or oil on it that I wasn't able to get off with a simple cleaning so I tried soaking a bit of chain in acetone only to see my acetone bath start to turn pink! Whatever they put on the chain to give it a color was simply washing off! I even gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried one more time after the acetone bath, with no results. Extremely disappointed.

This is a standard sash chain, suitable for hanging old-style window sashes. It's made of a soft enough metal that it can be cut with wire cutters, but it's more than strong enough for the job. It has a brass look, that dresses up the window a little bit. Sash rope is readily available, but it's not good quality, and is too springy. Go with chain.
