Addendum: this DOREMIDI host device arrived after 3 working days, and it works PERFECTLY, exactly as advertised (and using either 5-Din MIDI cables OR wireless MIDI adaptors!). My M-Audio KeyRig 49 USB keyboard is very old but still works perfectly with my ipad. Importantly, IT WAS NOT RECOGNIZED AT ALL by the CME Inc.,. H2MIDI Pro HOST device despite their claim of full FUNCTIONALITY with ALL USB keyboards. I had purchased the H2MIDI Pro DEVICE from Amazon, firmware updated it, and had to return it after trying everything in the book to make it functional, without unsuccess! I had initially given the Doremidi host device a 3/5 rating because the seller had not responded after three days to my advance on-line query about its functionality with my M-Audio keyboard. However the seller apologized didvrespond and profusely apologized about the response delay (he had been sick). He assured me in writing that the Doremidi product would indeed work to connect my M-Audio USB keyboard to my YAMAHA Mu-80 5-din MIDI sound module….AND HE WAS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!! My USB Keyboard can now play hundreds of voices instantly. It can even provide MIDI wirelessly to my ipad if desired by plugging a wireless MIDI OUT adaptor into the MIDI OUT port of the DOREMIDI Host advice….reducing stage clutter, or even removing the need to use my ipad on stage at all. This little device is all metal, has three modes, can be firmware updated if desired, comes with its own USB charging cord AND a USB A connection cable, and uses high speed MIDI 2.0 . This is the real deal folks!!

Works very well with EWI USB. Can control any midi keyboard but you need a USB external power source.

The product looks good, but I cannot even start using it, because the cable delivered to power it is incompatible with the socket. Not sure probably the item was returned by someone before and they just randomly added a different cable. Very unproffessional.

This host is not compatible with the M-Audio Oxygen 25. It powers on but does not allow the M-Audio controller to work properly at all. 3 stars because it likely works fine in other situations. It was easy to use, easy to setup and seemed to perform as it should outside of my experience.I purchased this to use with my Oxygen 25 as a keyboard for a workstation synth. While it would allow sound to pass through the hub to the synth, multiple keys on the M-Audio keyboard produced multiple notes at once and literally every other feature on the Oxygen 25 was rendered useless. I couldn’t even factory reset the controller while plugged into this hub.I can’t say for sure whether or not this is an issue with the MidiHub or the M-Audio controller itself, but the two are not compatible. Leaving this review for other buyers to let them know that they will need to find another Hub if they are planning to use a M-Audio controller.This hub is advertised as compatible and shouldn’t be. Beware of this and don’t waste your time if you use M-Audio equipment. I did receive a timely refund so at least I’m not stuck with a useless piece of hardware that serves no purpose to me.

Solved my USB to MIDI problem. I bought this particular one (UMH-21) because I read somewhere that other identical looking units are not necessarily as capable for use with keyboards. Don't know why but I can say that it work perfectly.

This is an amazing product, at the fraction of the price it's competitor. If you are looking for a MIDI host to work with Boss and ROLAND PRODUCTS, this unit transfers USB to MIDI with no effort.

I tried to use this thing to drive an access virus synth module with: 1) a usb guitar synth controller, which actually worked for a little while; and 2) with a usb keyboard controller, which never worked. Support? Forget about it. Manual? Nah. Info from whatever indifferent company made this POS is hard to come by and pretty much inscrutable when found. I quickly determined that fruitless effort wasn’t with a minute more of my time. So instead I gleefully destroyed the bricked thing with a framing hammer, ordered a keyboard controller with proper 5-pin midi connections, then wrote this abusive review. And now I feel a little better.

The USB to Midi converter is a great tool for using the lower priced usb only keyboards with other devices with standard midi interfaces. In my case I am using it to connect my Yamaha p125 piano to my Yamaha YC61 organ as a lower manual keyboard without needing to use my PC. The reason I did not give this thing four stars is because I had trouble plugging my midi cables into the midi ports on this device. The connector housings are too thick on good quality midi cables like you would by from a music store. I had to really push hard to force them in and they probably won't come out with the connectors of this device breaking off the board. The really cheap midi cables with thin connector housings will probably work better. I think the designer/manufacturer should look into a change for this issue.

I’m a songwriter/composer under performance rights organization, BMI, Inc. I’m also a self administered publisher under The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC). I write and record commercially licensed music, under four music libraries. And at times, I write songs for retail sale.Positive things to know:Like many of you out there, I have a larger MIDI keyboard controller that has a cable that goes from the keyboard controller as USB type B male to USB type A male to my computer using recording software (DAW). I wanted to be able to use this MIDI controller keyboard externally in real time, for my other hardware synthesizer and modules... All of them that have MIDI 5 pin din ports on them and this MIDI host box works great!The box is made of out metal which is also a plus, to me.. It seems to be a quality build.Other things to know:It does NOT come with a 5v USB power adapter. You need the kind that like charges a android phone. There is a USB cable that DOES come with this MIDI Host box, it is USB type B male (to the MIDI host) to USB type A male (to the usb 5v power adapter that you need to buy if you don't have one}. The cable is rather on the short side, so I used that cable for my keyboard and then another LONGER cable again USB B male to USB A male for the power adapter. Seeing how the power adapter is going to be on the ground for most people, I suggest getting a 10 ft cable, or maybe 15 ft? Also remember to buy some extra 5 pin din MIDI cables, you'll also want 10 ft (or long ones) as there is a midi out on the MIDI host for chaining.I'm very happy so far with this - MrTom

ho comperato questo prodotto per collegare direttamente il controller midi nektar impact impact gx61 ad un vecchio expander kawai Gmega senza passare attraverso il computer. non ho avuto problemi.questo modello di host funziona solo con controoler midi usb tipo 1.1 1.2 prima di comprare questo modello controllare che tipo di usb ha il vostro controller (non la porta usb dove lo collegate normalmente al computer) per controllare il modello di usb del controller midi ho usato il software temple reperibile gratuitamente sul web. nel caso il vostro controler midi sia di tipo usb 2.0 o superiore con questo host nonm funziona dovete prendere il modello superiore
