It's a calibration weight. It (barely) meets the expected standard, and was only lightly dinged when received. However, the packaging was atrocious. It was tossed in a plastic bag and sealed by the manufacturer, to then be manhandled into a cardboard box by Amazon, with improper protection for shipping, leading to box defects and light gouging on the weight. If the manufacturer had used a cardboard tube with end caps and nothing else to contain the calibration weight, it would've been infinitely better. Even lining their plastic bag with cheap foam would've helped. But alas, just a plastic bag and a small plastic wrap for a calibration weight that claims a high tolerance. No WAY that gets damaged in transit....If you're banking on a guarantee this weight is in spec on arrival, go elsewhere - it's not worth rolling the dice. If you're looking for a weight spec with a tighter tolerance than you'll be needing (as was my case), this is absolutely workable (just be prepared to fab a storage container when it shows up - the plastic baggy won't cut it).

weighed it against other precision weights and it was just a cheap cast part.a class M1 1kg weight has a tolerance of +/- 0.05g (50mg), the part I received was 500mg off! That error makes this item a class M3 part (500mg tolerance), not precise at all, just cast steel.complete rip-off for false advertising...

This is supposedly a Class M1 weight but I'm pretty sure the one I received is off by 1.5 grams which is greater than the M1 standard. I wouldn't use this to calibrate with, but for general demonstration of 1Kg it will be fine.

The weight seems to be at lest somewhat accurate, but it came with a very difficult to remove sticker stuck to it, no protective packaging, several small gouges in the metal, and a hole in the bottom that is rusted. How can you know it's really an M1 grade weight when it arrives in this condition?

Weigh right but look terrible. There's scratches, dents, they're greasy, seem used. At least they work, but wouldn't purchase again.
