Purchased this for a Christmas present. It's super bright and the remote works great. It's big enough to make a great decor item, and small enough to use as a night light. Well worth the price.

As fans of most Studio Ghibli films, it was a given that I had to order this when I saw it. Especially since my wife absolutely adores Howl's Moving Castle. Not to mention, Calcifer is one of her favorite characters, and they've done an exceptional job capturing his likeness.Upon arrival, Calcifer and his platform were detached, with a tube of glue included to attach the diminutive Calcifer to his light-up platform. No big deal, but I’m not quite sure why they couldn't do this at the factory. Regardless, once firmly affixed, he lights up brilliantly under most of the lighting options.Obviously, since he's red, he looks better with the red and yellow hues than with the blue or green ones. I was mildly disappointed that our Calcifer doesn't appear as flame-like as he does on the product page, but I suppose that's bound to happen when using resin. My wife, however, doesn’t seem to mind in the slightest. She thinks he’s adorable no matter what, and in the end, that’s really all that matters.The included remote works well enough, and the battery life seems adequate—assuming you don't intend to keep him lit up all the time. Overall, I think the $23 asking price is fair, considering he is (supposedly) handcrafted. But if I’m being honest, I’d probably feel better recommending him at around $15. Either way, for the Calcifer fan in your life, he's worth it. What’s $20 compared to infinite smiles? Buy with confidence.

When I saw this unique little Calcifer light my inner geek was so excited to get it. One of my favorite Studio Ghibli films and this little figure is a great representation of Calcifer holding a piece of wood. The acrylic figure is painted on the piece of wood, eyes, and mouth. Parts of the resin seem to be darker, such as at the base, but that could just be the way the different lights hit it. The light up base is great and I love all the different color options available. The front button is a bit sensitive-a light touch will turn it on. Of course, the best colors of light for this figure are the red and orange but it’s fun to watch the other colors cycle through. If you press the button again the color will pause. It comes with a usb charging cord but no wall adapter, a remote should you wish to use it rather than the button, and a small tube of glue. I’m not going to glue my figure to the base but do appreciate the thought from the seller. This glue is great stuff and is useful on jewelry, wood, plastic, etc. Even if you don’t use it for this item it’s a great item to have on hand-think super glue but more flexible and forgiving.My Amazon rating system-Five stars-Great item.
