This uses the Prolific USB Serial converter chip, so you may need drivers for that. Works fine on MacOS. Though it doesn't show up as a /dev/tty, so it can't be used by commandline processes. I think this is an overall Prolific brand driver thing. It does show up fine in MacOS desktop apps though, as well as showing up as a COM port in Parallels windows and linux VMs.

I bought this to replace a usb A serial adapter that was no longer supported by the newest driver. This one works great and is compatible with the chip manufactures newest driver, which means it is not a knockoff third party chipset. I no longer have to run the reset script to remove the driver and reinstall it, then reboot before use. This cable works every time I've plumed it in with out failure, which is a pleasant change. Great product, well worth it, and I will purchase many more of these for my company.

Once I installed drivers from site provided in package I had zero issues on dell xps. Great product that just worked for me. Way easier than my hold serial to USB console cable which I could not find proper drivers.

I am using this cable as a go-between to connect to my Samsung TVs for calibration. This worked right away, no searching for drivers. The one I received uses the Prolific chip.

I require an RS-232 interface for programming older automation and security systems. Having used Keyspan/TrippLite devices in the past I was looking for a reasonably priced USB-C option that I could throw in my bag and not worry about losing. This unit works perfectly (in a Win10 VM under Parallels Desktop 14 on my 2018 15” i9 MacBook Pro running High Sierra). I elected not to install the Mac OS drivers, opting to just install the Windows drivers (up to date from the CableMatters website) instead. Works like a charm. Thanks!

This worked perfectly on new MacBook pro with usb-c ports. Included drivers disk was not usable since computer does not have a CD/DVD reader. However it includes link to latest driver and instructions on web site. Took less than 10 minutes from unbox to using the cable.

It is not a plug-and-play type of adapter for Macbook Pro. It required a driver to install. Not a big deal to me. The product looks great, and the quality looks great as well. It worked for me and I am extremely happy with it.
