Comet designed these broadband antennas for those needing voice communications on the ham radio, land mobile, and FRS frequency ranges. CA-2X4SR mobile VHF/UHF antennas offer remarkable coverage area and gain, plus they allow for TX and RX capability in both bands! The amateur radio community works together with local search and rescue and other public service agencies in emergencies

I use this on my Anytone 578UViii Plus mobile in my truck with a midland mag mount. Works on 2M, 1.25M, 70cm, MURS, GMRS, and DMR. All SWR readings are low to mid 1's except GMRS coming in at 1.98 which is still acceptable for my setup. Range is excellent. TX and RX has increased significantly for both Amateur and GMRS. Don't hesitate to order this.

Although more performance testing will be required before my final judgement (using different locations, bands, frequencies and repeaters), I have already noticed that I can open a UHF repeater 21 miles away using this new 40" antenna from my driveway, whereas I could not open the same repeater using the same 10-watt HT radio with the old 18" antenna; placement of antennas on the roof of my car were in the exactly same location and the test was performed from the exact same location in my driveway.I was already able to open another UHF repeater 36.9 miles away in the opposite direction with both antennas, but that is due to a hilly landscape, two lakes, national forests, and other terrain obstacles between me and the repeater that is only 21 miles away. The ability of the Comet to hit this particular repeater is impressive, given the challenges of the terrain.Old Antenna = VFAN 18" Dual Band UHF/VHF Magnetic MountNew Antenna = Comet 40" CA-2X4SRNMO - 140-160 MHz/435-465 MHz Dual Band AntennaI also purchased the Comet spring mount and a 5" Tram magnetic NMO base for the new antenna.[The photo is hard to distinguish since I am surrounded by trees.]

This antenna unlike another oneni bought before this one works GREAT!! Very low SWR out of the box, unlike the HH9900 I bought that was showing an SWR of 6 or higher. Will buy another one of these.

I bought this antenna primarily to use on my boat where I wanted to shared an antenna feed with both a GMRS radio, and a Marine VHF radio using a frequency-split diplexer. In that application it works great. Signal strength is very good, SWR at those frequencies is very good (But then I discovered that this is also just a great all around antenna for 2m, 70cm, MURS, GMRS, Marine VHF, and in scanning (receive only) applications from 25MHz to 1.3GHz. I have one hooked up to my RTL-SDR, for example, so I can scan any service within its bandwidth range. The fold-down is rather stiff. I don't use this in offroad conditions currently, so I don't need a spring. But a spring kit is available if you need it to be better protected offroad. It's a rather long antenna due to its compatibility with 2m VHF. But it's a good all around antenna, very effective at the ranges I've tested. Recently I used it to hit a GMRS repeater 64 miles away with a 4w handheld.

Really excellent antenna....fully tested and tests well beyond expectations. The only thing bad about it is it tastes weird but other than that it's excellent.

Set for the frequency I use the antenna for, went to the radio and got a 1.1:1 match for swt. Range is great with 50w radio. Using this for GRMS frequency.

Almost 1:1 across 2m, 70cm AND 220 band!!! Works great on GMRS & MURS too, almost 1:1! This is one of the BEST VHF-UHF antennas I have ever owned! (And I have a lot of antennas!)

Fantastic antenna for those that need HAM and GMRS at the same time.
