Bought this because it stated 16, 000 gross trailer weight. Which is the capacity of my trailer. And some of my toys will have close to that much weight with the trailer. The square 2 1/2 inch mounting shaft is hollow. The plate is not welded all the way around, I'm hoping it will actually handle the rated weights it boasts. It is 2 1/2 inches square which is what my new 3500 Ram has for a trailer hitch, so this fits perfectly and no need for the 2 1/2 to 2 inch reducer the truck comes with. It is heavy but not as heavy as the 2 inch solid steel shaft on the plate I was using before. I've bought products from this seller before and have never had any issues so I'll trust what they are saying on this pintle mounting plate.8/23/2022 New update: Having placed a load not anywhere near the rated capacity the tube is flexing downward under the weight. 2800 lbs. tongue. I find this too unsettling. I am returning the item.
