The hood is super soft and a very fun look. My 4yo initially loved and wants to wear it to school all of the time. But when it came to time on the mountain, he quickly removed it and refused to put it back on because it got damp and he didn't want it against his skin. While many balaclavas or buffs have this problem, I think the drapey nature of the face mask portion contributes a bit. Still like the item, but It's purpose is a little undermined.
