About Taps

Straight flute design, made of 6542 high speed steel. It is used to process threads of various through holes or shallow blind holes. Can process copper, brass, A3 steel, aluminum, cast iron and other materials.

Generally used in conjunction with tapping machines, integrated bench drills, CNC lathes, machining centers, etc. Manual processing is also possible. When operating, control the speed according to the hardness of the material, the higher the hardness of the processed product, the slower the speed.

Recommended feed rate:

Hard steel: 5-10m/min, cast iron: 8-10m/min, ordinary steel: 6-15m/min.

About Dies

Made of alloy tool steel, hardness and wear resistance. Used to repair external threads. When in use, the conical locking hole of the die is aligned with the screw of the wrench and tightened. The conical keyhole has a strong locking force and is not easy to loosen.

Suggest:

Appropriate lubricating oil should be added to the die-cutting edge when cutting, It is to be reversed every 1/4~1/2 turn to facilitate chip discharge from the chip hole.

Tips

  • Please be sure to take protective measures when working, you need to wear goggles and protective gloves.
  • Before tapping confirm whether the diameter of the round hole is appropriate. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for the complex tapping process and apply anti-rust oil for maintenance after use.
  • When tapping, control the speed according to the hardness of the material, it is necessary to add water or coolant to cool down to prevent excessive temperature and reduce tap loss.

None of these dies list their diameters. I don't know why they can't all be a standard 1". The result is having to buy a 30mm die wrench just for this one die. I hope that it'll be worth it.

Worked great one time but wondering how long it will last? 5 times 10 times?

I have been a Machanist for 40 years and I can say that this tap did not cut the treads at all. My guess that it's made of poor quality material. The hardest of the tap wouldn't cut a thread into something I drilled out with hig speed drill. My guess the hardness of the tap was less that the softer metal I drilled out..

Tried to use this tap and die combo. The tap would not fit the properly bored hole. And the die would not fit properly sized round bar.I wanted to see how bad it really was. So, I enlarged the hole so that I could get the tap to start. It was a fight to get the thread cut. I then put the round bar on the lathe and brought it down to a size that the die would start and cut the threads. After both parts were threaded they wouldn't even start to thread on to one another.Don't waste your time and money.
