A field biologist working in coastal south Florida, I use these Listo refillable pencils to write on vinyl flagging (both 1" wide tape/ribbon, and 2" x 3" flags on wire stakes, or to mark plastic or wood labels and stakes in a horticultural nursery's plant pots. No ink-based "permanent marker" (such as Sharpie®, etc.) resists fading in the sun like this type of china marker / crayon type; whatever you write will outlast the tape you write it on. And, no regular (paper-wrapped, pencil-type) china marker endures life in a pocket (rain, sweat) or rough handling and occasional drops like the Listo 1620 refillable pencil's nearly indestructible plastic body. As far as I know, these are a one-of-a-kind product, and indispensable for fieldwork when your notes need to last.

It does write on hard surfaces really, really well, but when it comes to fabric, it is a bit too hard and picks up fabric pieces that I have to remove often. I bought these because I need something to be able to write on black minky, and I am still using them, but for use on minky or other types of fabric like minky such as fleece, the wax could be softer for the use on those. Other than that, it works great on the other surfaces I have used them on.

these are the same old markers we used in the produce dept at the old grocery store to write the price on a bag of produce we just weighed..they work great..last forever..and you dont have to worry about a sharpie marker drying out..the refills are the same as we used to get..easy to put in..my use for them is to mark on cardboard or foam, and paper..not sure if i will use them for address labels as i dont know how they do there..but they are an honest product..and will last a long time..glad to see they are still being made..

I have used these pencils and "wax leads" in a Wholesale warehouse retail location, and had forgotten about them. I needed something to mark on glass that would be easy to remove, and came across these when looking through options. We used to use them on cardboard, and for paper they are permanent, but for glass!! Perfect. Non-porous surfaces these will mark on anything that is warm enough to transfer the wax. They will not work very well on very cold surfaces as the "Wax Lead" needs to have some warmth to actually transfer. Good value, and much easier to maintain than those "Grease" Pencils with the paper wrapped around them that the "Wax Leads" break so easily on. Give the little knob on the top of the pen a little twist, and zip, the "Wax Lead" just pushes out a little more. When you run out, just grab another lead and push it in, and start again. I forgot how useful these could be. Love em'

Have been packaging items to freeze (eg my own mexicorn/SW style corn for salsa soup making a mix of frozen corn, chopped red bell pepper, and chopped Ancho-Poblano pepper for a product costing less than half of what the canned version would. Cans of SW style corn are $2.49 each!) but when it came to marking the freezer bags with the date and description I was having some amount of trouble using a Sharpie marker because it just did not want to mark on the bag. I'd have to go over and over it again, even preparing the surface first for it to take hold and that was getting old. I remembered we'd used these grease pens (what we called them) when I worked at a thrift store years ago to mark price tags for clothing items and to mark prices on merchandise. I decided I needed some now for the freezer bag marking and whatever purposes it might also be useful for. I was not willing to go with a cheaper brand that might not be reliable and so I opted for the real deal. That said, I just tried marking a quart size freezer bag with one and still had issues. I had to go over it again because it barely adhered. Maybe it is the bags surfaces... Ah-well! It did mark other things I practiced on very nicely. I do not regret purchase, these will come in handy.

Worth every penny if you work in the food industry these are a must that will work in a freezer that will work on greasy paper and you can slide it right back in your pocket when you're done.
