Until you have some weight, these guys can shift on you if you’re clumsy like me and inadvertently bump into them.

I built a front porch using pressure treated wood with trex slats to cover an existing cement stoop. I enlarged the stoop from 6x4' to 12x8' and used the tuffblocks on the outer corners. As others have said, you can't butt them directly against walls, but I don't know that it matters. Decking can have an overhang past the frame, which is what I did to make the porch flush with the house. They don't fit the 4x4" tightly, which is good. I was concerned that after leveling the tuffblocks, I'd have a hard time pulling out the 4x4 to make any adjustments. I am slightly concerned about a frost heave, but since this is a floating deck, it won't cause any damage if it slightly lifts in the front. Our winters are also mild. The reason I used these as opposed to digging footers is because we have a sewer access pipe to the left of the porch and we've been unable to get a clear answer as to where that pipe is under the ground. It was safer to keep everything above ground when working so close to that pipe. Now, having completed the project, if it holds up I'll be extremely pleased. Not having to dig holes and pour concrete saved me at least a day of labor.Since buying these on amazon, they have become readily available in big box hardware stores and cost $9 each. Just a head's up that this is likely not the best deal you can get.

Where have these been for all my years of using heavy concrete pier blocks! Duh, these are the cats meow! Used these for a small porch addition, they are so easy to use, easy to move around, very sturdy in holding 4x4's exactly in place. No more back pain now !!!

These are great!!! Got the 8 pk. and was NOT dissapointed! They can be used in many different installations with various sizes of Dimensional Lumber. Used as POST support OR pier for horizontal Framing of Joist or Rim Joist..don't want to haul around super heavy Concrete Pier Blocks and metal Connectors...then TRY THESE!!! TUFFBLOCKS are way COOL..I am building in remote Alaska and WEIGHT is everything to boat or fly in..these are a blessing from heaven!! Cheers Tim....SE AK

Excellent product! Very easy to Install, very strong and light weight. It makes your deck repair or build a more simple job to do, even for a non professional construction worker like me.

A lot easier to use than heavy cement piers. I was able to use all 8 to support the foundation (corners and joists). Only had it mounted a few weeks, so can't speak to duration or season effects. A lower price would have gotten it 5 stars.
