I underestimated this hat. Cheap, cute, comfy, shades my face, and having the chin strap is a game changer!! This hat survived a week long camping trip at the river and Joshua tree. I wore it on a boat and jet ski with no problems! Stayed on great and easy to wash afterwards! :)

I ordered this hat for my Dad, he's now 75, to wear outside as a replacement for a very similar design he's had for almost 30 years. The fit is a bit more floppy woth slightly longer brim than I thought, but its nothing you will find annoying, or too loose. He loves if, wears it all the time. He is dwf knto the cMp design and it's lightweight, but sturdy, ans cN easily be washed up. 10/10

I bought this as a backup hat for when my beloved and adventure worn 'Free Authority Outdoors' boonie hat kicks the bucket. My old one is starting to unravel and get holes, and they don't make this particular hat any longer, so they've become difficult to find. This one by Phaiy looks almost identical to my old hat and has the precise dimensions, so I decided to pick one up. Initial thoughts . . .PROS:*matches my old hat almost exactly, almost as if they used the 'Free Authority Outdoors' hat as the model for this one. Same design and dimensions in every way.*3 inch brim is nice. A lot of boonie hats have 2-2.5 inch brims. Wide brim=better sun protection.*chin cord is a sewn strip made from same material as hat instead of that dumb woven rope most boonie hats have. Big plus for me since the rope tends to fray and pick up stickers and junk on the trail.*fits perfectly and looks great on my head.*Inner shell is cotton canvas and seems ok, but not great.colors match the picture in description well. I love the olive drab and burnt orange combo!*hat is floppy compared to many boonie hats I've worn. This is a PRO for me, as I like the floppiness and the look it gives...others may see this as a negative, but it's one of the reasons I went with this hat.CONS:*came folded up like origami, so brim is now really creased and looks goofy unless I wear it with brim snapped, which is luckily how I usually wear it. Perhaps the creasing will go away after washing/wearing it.*hat is not 100% cotton canvas on the outside, only on the inside. I really wish the entire hat was made from 100% cotton, but it isn't. (listing says it's high tech and more durable than cotton. We'll see)*chin cord is set forward so that cord hangs in front of my ears instead of behind them, which is a pet peeve of mine on hats. I can force the cord behind my ears, but it's uncomfortable. Might not be the case for everyone.*Outside of hat has a sheen to it that makes it look somewhat like velvet. It's very shiny, which I don't care for. Probably due to the outside material containing polyester.*lackluster craftsmanship: The sewing on the seems ain't the greatest. There are some loose threads, and areas where the seems aren't in line. Material is somewhat thin, compared to my old hat. Not sure how it's going to hold up to heavy use, sun, water and repeat washings. We'll see.*No tag on hat that lists materials. Seller listing says it's cotton, poly and PU, but who knows? I guess China doesn't have the same obligation to post materials on tags as U.S.I may alter this review as I use the hat. These are my initial thoughts of the item right out of the package and after trying it on and wearing it for a short time. It was an inexpensive hat, and one gets what they pay for. If you're looking for a basic boonie hat to keep the sun off your face at festivals and such, go for it! If it's for heavy trail use, fishing, etc...it may or may not hold up. Again, I'll have to see how it fares after some trail hiking and such. Worst case scenario, my kids can wear it, and I'll keep looking for that elusive used 'Free Authority Outdoors' boonie hat I got at Ross for 7 bucks over a decade ago. There must be another one out there someplace.

I've never been a fan of bucket hats until now. I had quite an adventure that included some free solo climbing and intense bush whacking. It kept my neck sunburn free while climbing in full sun exposure. The best part was it drooped down enough to protect my face from branches and thorns during 3 miles of bushwhacking through a dense river bed.Construction and materials are solid. The brim is soft and floppy as pictured. My only complaint is that the size is a little snug and the strap is attached to the had directly over the ears. I would prefer the strap to be in front of the ears a half an inch or so, but this one is right smack in the center of the hat so putting the strap under my chin means that it rubs on the top of my ears. I often wear it with the strap to the back of my head to get it out of the way.
