The fit of this item is dependent on the thickness of your winchline and how it terminates. Mine terminated in a metal grommet which wouldn't fit through the holes at the end of this strap. I cut off the grommet which committed me to using this, but then the rope wouldn't fit through the holes either. I ended up removing some of the stitching to make the holes bigger so the line would fit, but that obviously weakens the sewing. Was difficult to install since the adhesive didn't want stock to the winch drum. Overall it works in the end, but could definitely be improved. Not sure it's really an upgrade over just using a screw to attach the winchline to the hole in the winch drum.

Extremely small and difficult to work with. Double sided tape not sticky enough to hold. Ended up mixing epoxy!Got it to work but it was very time consuming.

I recently rebuilt an older Warn M8274 winch and upgraded to 1/2" synthetic rope. Most winches use 3/8" synthetic, so I didn't think mine would fit through 'The Grabber'. Even with the protective abrasion sheath, the 1/2" rope I bought did fit. Snug and tight, but it fits. It's really just a looped strap sewn in the middle with some double-sided stick tape. Not worth the $16 in my opinion, but it will work and won't involve drilling the winch drum. It will also prevent the rope from chafing if I were to attach it differently.

It was economical and worked. After my line came off the spool, I looked at different ways to fix it. This small strap looked interesting in videos and I tried it. I had limited access to the spool and it took two people to conveniently get the line wrapped by working from the front and below/behind the winch. Eventually the strap adhesive failed while wrapping the end of the line, but that adhesive is just an aid in reinstalling. I got the line on and hand tight, then respooled the line under tension. It should hold now.

Works good, installed as shown in the instructions this little trick causes the rope to grip the winch drum snugly with no sharp edges to damage the rope.

Does what it's supposed to do but probably could have saved my money and use some duct tape.
