The first unit I ordered had a miss-fitting negative lead that simply rattled around in the socket. I returned that one and received a second unit at no additional charge. One of the included batteries was leaking and measured zero; additionally it produced intermittent readings. Amazon refunded me for the second unit but told me to keep it. I decided to see if I could repair it rather than re-ordering another. I took it apart and found a loose solder joint which I fixed. The unit now works perfectly. I purchased it in order to verify the resistance of some high-gigohm resistors; the meter confirms their rated values within 1%. I've also tested it against various insulation materials for resistance with good results. A very nice meter if you get one that works!

It looks good. Appears tough quality. But when I first used it in action, this tester I received did not show the voltage reading. It did not work. It looks like one the female jacks was loose. I returned it quickly. Didn't have reason to further use it. Few of a millions perhaps, chances like this.

Gave the satisfaction of knowing the cables worked properly we were testing. Reasonable price considering more professional models cost $1000.

I finally had a use for the BT-6688B Digital Insulation Resistance Tester and it does not work. The controls appear to work. The test/stop button turns the HV light on and off, but there there is no resistance reading and no high voltage at the probes. I also used a separate DMM to look for HV at the test jacks, but it is not there. The unit looks to be pretty well made and the price is right, but it's been 2 months so this one is going in the scrap bin...

I used the meter for testing heat tracing cable. It works great!! I should also add that the price beats the heck out of spending $800 - $900 on a brand name.

I needed a megohmmeter when installing Ditra heated floors and came across this when looking for one. The unit is well built, easy to use and did exactly what I needed it to at a fair price

This is my first Megohmmeter - I purchased this to check wiring insulation while installing an in floor heating system. Compared the AC Voltage readout of this unit with my high quality and trusted Voltmeter. The readout were within 1%, so very happy with it. No comparison available to any other Megohmmeter, however it did its job well. I only used the 1000VDC setting and for most people, this will be the only setting needed, however it is nice that it has alternative settings available - just in case.I do recommend the BTMETER BT-6688B to anyone, who needs a Megohmmeter. I did not need to contact the manufacturer, however with your purchase you do receive the contact information of the owner of the company - that is very impressive and it shows me that these people care about the customer satisfaction of their clients.

More than accurate enough for quick bench or field tests. Doesn't 'feel' as solid as my Fluke but is considerably less expensive and has a greater range of testing settings. Thick padding does a good job of protecting the actual meter. Provided test leads seem a little flimsy. Time will tell how they hold up for daily use.Only complaint: 5 days to process the order. Then actual shipping only took 2 days and was delivered on a Sunday even with the free shipping option. Unique combination of under/over achieving on the same order.

I purchased BTMETER BT-6688B tester to evaluate and compare insulation of Earthing Shoes. Its ranges 200Gig and 5kV are very critical to me. Other meters do not go so high or cost is too high for me. I like this model also because it has actual resistance reading instead of just LED light showing for example "resistance is between 10Meg and 100Meg" - this is not sufficient for me. I like meter's simplicity too, nothing fancy, no preparations. It has two side terminals for measuring resistance. Additional two terminals at the center allow measuring voltage. In order to check accuracy I purchased a few high value resistors. Due to cost I purchased only cheaper lower values 47Meg to 5Gig costing less than $5. With a quick test taking a few minutes I obtained following results: 47Meg 5% resistors read 44.9Meg and 45.3Meg 90Meg 1% resistor reads 89.1Meg 150Meg 1% resistor reads 147.5Meg 1Gig 1% resistor reads 0.979Gig 2Gig 1% resistor reads 1.97Gig 5Gig 1% resistor reads 4.97GigI am very happy with test results. It seems all readings are slightly on low side, but this error is somewhat consistent and well within specification. Earthing Shoes and other shoes I used for comparison testing gave me readings much higher than 5Gig, some close to 200Gig and some exceeding maximum 200 Gig.GOOD- Meter is rather heavy, as it should be.- Easy to use, very heavy duty high voltage cables included.- All cable terminals located on back side.- Built in quality OK for such low cost meter.- Clear display, anti slippery housing great for outdoor testing.CONS- Some guide regarding best working voltage for given resistance range could be printed at the bottom or on front panel.- No information how long batteries last. Shall I carry a spare set just in case?Overall very nice, low cost tester reaching extreme 200 Gig Ohm and 5kV.

I’ve only had the chance to use it a couple of times so far, however from what I’ve experienced testing 5kv airport lighting cable resistance, it’s doing what I bought it for. Compared to other meters I have, fluke, Klein, amprobe, etc... it’s well worth the price! The only complaint I would have, like most of the other reviews I’ve seen. The instructions are less than great, if you have any experience with meters you can figure it out, however the wording is just wierd in explaining the leads and how to operate the meter. Another would be the case or cheap plastic cover with a really cheap zipper! Ya I’ll be replacing that with a steel hard case from harbor freight. Other than that the meter is great!
