This tool performs exceptionally well, but is a bit heavy when trying to position it in tight brushy situations. My only complaint, and the reason for the 4 star rating, is the spring used to keep the clamp closed after positioning. It needs to have a design change to keep the spring from falling off in the brush. The clamp will work, most of the time, without the spring, but it does help to ensure locking the clamp in position when you step away from the tree and begin the pull.

I own a few of those, this one is the biggest one they sell I believe.Use this with my backhoe and it works like a charm. No worries about breakage, this is built tough... enough to move the entire loader when working. Thing's a beast... well worth it.

Very satisfied with this purchase! I used my 27 year old 4x4 Isuzu Trooper and this great product to clear about a quarter acre in my new river camp. I was able to effortlessly pull up to 3.5 inch think brush with the old trooper. The bigger stuff with my neighbors tractor.

So far I have not been able to pull out one tree. It strips off the bark and when placed on bare wood it does not grip well enough. Keeps slipping off. It's built like a tank, but that doesn't mean much if it doesn't work.

We're clearing out part of our woods and this made the work a lot easier. He hooked it up to the stump and the truck and they came out pretty easily.

Although the BG-20 I received looks well made and I am looking forward to using it, the spring is missing. There was a label on the outer box "amazon warehouse deals Inspected and Repackaged. The 36 pound steel device was loose inside the original manufacturer's box but loose without any packing. That box was worn through in several places with recent strapping tape applied. Amazon then placed that damaged and poorly packed container in a larger single wall box that was severely battered on arrival. The device itself had a couple bent teeth and paint scraped off in several areas. So first concern, I don't know the history, but the repack/reship was poorly done. This needed significant packing to ship properly and there was none. Of course the one page manual in a bag was worn through and in tatters.Calling the manufacturer to request a spring: A real person and what appears to be a desire to fix the problem. Unfortunately, those springs are currently "out of stock" and will be 6 weeks before they have more... No they do not have any specifications for the proper spring. They will contact me when they get some. Loosing these springs seems to be the chief complaint in the reviews so this seems like something they would want to keep in stock. The manual (page) does have a part number for them.I am choosing not to return this to Amazon, yet... Hoping I can find a temporary spring at a local hardware or farm machinery store. The spring looks necessary to hold the grubber on the tree before tension is applied. Returning this item with proper packing would be difficult and expensive time wise on my end. Disappointed!

Other reviews about the spring coming off are correct. Knowing this ahead of time, I utilized a couple of zip ties to make sure that spring did not fly off to never be found. That being said, this works well without the spring—and in fact might even be easier to use without it—as long as you are able to get a reasonable bite on whatever you are attempting to pull/extract.As I write this review, I seem to recall that there are different sizes of the grubber. I got the large one, and I’d say for anything over 2” in diameter, this will work like a champ. Anything with a smaller diameter might prove troublesome, as there is not enough material for the spikes to grab. The grubber will simply slide in this case. If you have smaller bushes/brush, consider a smaller grubber.I have extracted many privet hedges, sweetgums, eastern cedars, etc from areas I am clearing food food plots and to beautify our property. Very pleased with the purchase!

Many people have been having problems with the Spring that keeps the Jaws closed popping out, and Losing it in the Grass. Thus far I have avoided the Issue. When You set the Jaws on the Stump; Make sure that the Spring is facing Up, So that the Spring doesnt drag on the Ground. Also Dont Expect to be able to Drag a stump 100 Yards, and not lose the Spring. This Device is meant to pull the stump & roots out of the ground... Not drag brush all over Your property. Pull the Stump far enough out that You are clear of other obstacles... take the grubber off the stump (I keep a small crow bar on my tractor, because the grapple can really set in, and I have to pry it off), and then put the grubber somewhere secure until You are ready to use it again, instead of dragging it around behind your vehicle. This device is large & luggish, but if you are pulling out 4" trees, it would need to be. If you have alot of cedars (like I do), then my suggestion is to have one person on the tractor, and one on the ground doing most the hard work. Make sure if You do have a person on the ground, that they stand clear of chain and grapple. I had a Cedar snap in two on me, and it launched the grubber about 10 feet when the tension released.

I received the Brush Grubber Extreme Plus today and WOW!! what a piece of steel!! I pulled out a Pear tree in my front yard effortlessly with my Jeep in 4w Drive with a log chain and it performed as advertized and flawlessly!! I would recommend this product to anyone that needs to pull some big old stumps outta the ground. Be advised tho this is the biggest one made and even though it can be used by one man it is recommended you have a partner to setup and pull with this thing,it weighs alot and is very big!! Not recommended for small trees but works great on the biggens!!!If pulling smaller trees might opt for the Brush Grubber HD or the regular Grubber Extreme.
