Super fun for all ages. Three year old could put it together while the 5 year old supervised.

Bought this for my 3year olds bday! He can put it together but needs help with the ramps. He loves all the stops for the cargo stops! He loves the train that goes by itself! Great durability, you can tell it is made well and will last!

Our 3 & 1/2 year old granddaughter loves trains and LOVES this set! She didn’t need much help assembling it, as it’s pretty straightforward. The wood tracks and cars are made well, small enough for their little hands and it doesn’t take up a ton of space. Even with all the tech-type presents, she still enjoys her train set very much! I believe this maker made, Thomas the Tank Engine, which we had in the past. Fantastic brand.

I bought this train for my 2-year-old grandson. An adult needs to set up the track for him. He loves playing with it now, with so much for him to grow into. The only problem was that the set was missing a critical piece: P1. I haven’t found a way to get this piece without returning it.

Awesome set! My 3 year old loves it. We added this to the Thomas set he already had and they work great together.

I bought this set for my 3 year old train enthusiast for his birthday. He loves the set, both when assembled as pictured and when used as individual pieces. It comes in a really nice green plastic box with locking handles, and everything needed to build the set is included, except for one AA battery and a tiny screwdriver (we used a phillips head). The layout size, when built, is a lot smaller than the average train table (see picture) so if you want to fill the table you’ll have to add some extra track. The set includes:-- Track: Enough/all track pieces included to build the pictured layout.-- 2 engines: One red battery powered engine, and a blue non powered engine. The red engine has a simple switch that makes it go forwards or backwards. My 3 year old has no trouble operating the switch by himself, and the engine is powerful enough to make it up the hills with all three cargo cars attached.-- 3 cargo train cars: There are three cargo car bases that are interchangeable with the included cargo. Note that other cargo (such as from the Brio hay wagon or cargo ship set) will not work with these cargo cars.-- 3 unique pieces of cargo: One is a tank of gasoline, which is unique and really cute. The other two are wood blocks with a red and green plastic crate that slides on and off. The magnets on the cranes work through the plastic crates, and my son loves sliding the cargo in and out of their crates.-- 1 cargo truck: This little truck is full of great details as well. It can hold one piece of the included cargo in it’s bed, and it also has a tiny magnet in the front bumper that allows it to drive up and attach to the truck loading crane. The hood also lifts up to reveal the engine underneath.-- 3 cranes: These are really the highlight of this set. Each crane is really unique, and they have provided hours of fun for both kids and parents in our house. The gantry crane is wide enough to fit over two lines of track, and can slide back and forth and raise/lower the magnet. The truck loading crane picks up cargo from the train, drops it onto a slide that then dumps the cargo into the back of the cargo truck. Very cool! These cranes also work with all other magnetized cargo (Brio, Thomas, etc). We even tested with some lumber cargo that’s an odd size/shape and it was no problem (see picture).-- 7 supports: These supports have no grip and are somewhat wobbly, so the track can pretty easily fall off (especially around the curves). However, my son LOVES when this happens and says “Oh no, the bridge is out” which is adorable. Crisis averted.-- 1 signal: Can be changed from red to green.-- 1 track bumper: Nice little piece to end track lines. We haven’t seen these in many sets so it’s nice to have.-- 1 bridgeWe have been very happy with this set and I would definitely purchase it again.

Santa is bringing a train table to our house this year and I have been torn for months about whether to purchase Thomas wooden or Brio. Thanks to lightning deals and incessantly stalking my wishlist for a price decrease, I was able to get both this set and a Thomas set to compare. I was impressed with the quality of both sets; I do believe they're quite comparable. As far as style and playability, I found this Brio set far superior. The pieces, imo, have a more realistic look and within this set and most of the other brio sets, there are opportunities for interactive play other than just pushing a train along the track. This will be a big draw for my son, as he loves trains, but needs something extra to keep him engaged. I think this set will last for years and endure the play of 2 boys with ease. Well worth the price. I can't wait to set this up for Christmas morning!
