I’ve been home brewing for over 20’years and have never had a bad or funny batch until now everything was fine until I added the peanut butter extract and aged for 4 weeks before tasting, it left an odd funny taste in my mouth that lingered for quite awhile wound up throwing the whole batch away

The porter is good and the peanut butter flavour is spot on (for my taste that is), the beer has pronounced coffee flavour with some nice dark chocolate and the hops pair nicely with it… but hitting the final gravity of 1.014ish just won’t happen, not sure if they don’t account for the added lactose being non fermentable but I’d say there is an issue with the recipe.Anyway, it was a fun kit and the flavour is good so I’ll say 3 out of 5 stars.

The kit tastes great, but I have used it three times now and each time it failed to meet its target gravity, usually settling a full percentage lower. Most other kits by this manufacturer dont seem to have that problem.

I've only brewed maybe 6-8 beers and am still a newbie so the issues I had might just be me, but other folks stated fermentation issues also. My fermentation started out great but didn't finish apparently because the final gravity was way off. Maybe I had to aerate the wort better?? Any way, I had to purchase and add another yeast packet 4 weeks into fermentation since it still wasn't even close to the gravity range. All the messing with getting it to ferment again and adding more oxygen seemed to make the beer stale. In general, the ingredients and smell is awesome, so I think this could be a great tasting beer, perhaps for people that know what they are doing with adding fresh yeast to work better. That is my guess

I've bought this kit twice and had the same problem each time. E-mails directly to the company got no response. The specific gravity just stops at about 1.030. I've added more and different yeast, and yeast energizer to no avail. The first batch just went completely south and soured. I've racked the second batch over into the secondary fermenter and will bottle it to see how it goes, but the alc. content is only about 3.2%. I've been brewing for over 20 years, and can't really recommend this particular kit.

I added a half pound of cocao nibs to the boil and secondary and it added a nice bitter chocolate flavor. Used 3/4 of the peanut butter flavor and it turned out really good. Wasn't really sweet so you could drink more than just one unlike most flavored porters

This was one of the better results I've had out of a beer kit. I didn't do everything right, including over boiling it, which caused a slight burnt taste, yet it actually complemented the peanut butter flavoring fairly well. This is definitely one of my favorites after the Robust Porter.
