This was very effective for degassing a six gallon batch of wine. It doesn't oxygenate the wine, either, which is important.

I use this to stir up homemade wine, to degas it. The plastid material of the whip will not damage one-gallon glass bottles.

The wobble takes some concentration to avoid getting out of hand, but it is easy to clean, and the occasional bump on the side of a wide-mouth fermenter doesn't send me into a panic. Good price point makes this one a solid option.

I really like Fermtech products but this one hasn’t really worked for my needs. I bought this for degassing as an aid for settling. Unfortunately it doesn’t help. It basically breakers up the yeast etc, making it so fine it takes much longer to settle vs. doing nothing at all. I’m glad I bought this one instead of spending a lot more for other types. If you are just looking to degass I think you will be happy. But as a settlement aid it’s not any help.

So, I took into consideration the reviews that mentioned plastic pieces coming off, and indeed it's true. The spinning drill end on the plastic bong will indeed shred it. Just don't put the drill right up against it or remove it altogether and it's fine.My biggest problem is the length. It only goes about halfway into the carboy. I ended up using the spoon as well as this whip just to make sure the bottom got stirred up. It kind of defeats the purpose.

So overall its very easy to use and works wonderfully, fits just about any drill. Although the one thing that gets me with this review is the fact that i had the option to rate the thickness of it... i mean its a little thicker than a pen and um i dont know what else you would be using this for that thickness would matter

Sure beats the heck out of using a wooden spoon. Not sure why people are saying they get little bits of plastic in their wine. If used properly and water for cooling no issues whatsoever.

This is a well made product, but the rubber plug is a bit too big for a 1 gallon carboy. This may be a case where they tried too hard to make a universal product and ended up with a product that works ok for a lot of things instead of a product that works really well for one thing. They should really make a version specifically for 1 gallon carboys that fits the bottle neck better. The price is quite reasonable. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a separate one for the smaller size carboy.

This works okay... I love the concept. I love that the bung covers the entrance to the carboy so that anything from your drill won't fall in (probably a good idea to dust off the drill obviously first). Unfortunately the bung is a bit loose. I'm not sure if the bung is too small (like another reviewer mentioned) or too big- it doesn't sit well in the carboy top and pops out when the drill comes on. I found that holding it in with one hand while operating the drill with the other is the only way to do this.I also wish that the whip was longer as it isn't quite long enough for our carboy. As other reviewers mentioned, there ARE little white shavings- although I seem to have gotten lucky and only gotten a few on the outside of my carboy and inside the top of the bung. I believe this is due to the head of the drill hitting the inside of the bung... when I back the drill away from it and use it, I don't get shavings. This seems simple, but because the bung is trying to pop out and the force of the drill is making the drill head move towards the bung, it's like wrestling an elephant.Obviously make sure to sanitize this well. The wine whip has a sticker on the bung stating to fill the bung halfway with water (assumedly while in use)... I didn't see this the first time I used the wine whip and used without. I later tried with the bung filled with water- DO NOT USE WATER. For one, it leaks through into the carboy (ugh), and for another, it didn't seem to help with anything at all. Maybe it would help if it didn't leak through? Who knows. Either way, remove the sticker that tells you to do this. It is yet another item that will get in the way while you're trying to use this. All this said- the wine whip WORKS. In fact, so much air came up the third time I used it on this batch that the bubbles and some wine came up through the bung and over the top of the carboy. I'm glad to degas the wine well because not doing so can ruin the batch (ask me about my batch of cab sauv that has bubbles like champagne, lol). Here is a video of it in action: https://youtu.be/0-1fL7TKLaA

This whip is attached to your drill to help degas your wine that is in the carboy before you stabilize, clear and bottle. Hand stirring to degas is a big time job that call beat up us older folk. This tool does the work with ease in a third of the time. Most styles of these wine whips seem to work well but this one is simple and straight forward. Can't go wrong for the money.
