Right side of head isnt as rounded as left. Snaps work great. Temporal bones arent accurate with the zygomatic process being a separate piece (thinking of gluing it). All in all It is a nice quality piece especially for the price. I marked it up as a craniosacral education dummy.

I’m an artist, and use this model to draw from. Sometimes, you have to draw what you know, not what you see. So, if I’m drawing a person with their head leaning backward, sometimes it helps to have a model like this so that I can lightly sketch in the bone structure of my subject first. Very often, some portrait art can come off looking weird and unnatural if you can’t get the position or the perspective of the head right, first…nothing ever lines up properly after something like that is off kilter. The different colors for different pieces are very helpful. It helps me to find and focus on each specific piece.

Ok, so here's the deal: I am a physician, and it's been over 2 decades since I was in medical school and held a real human skull in my hands while learning the anatomy. Since that time I have bought several skulls which have been disappointing because of lack of detail -- particularly in the skull base. There are so many "skulls" out there which are much closer to cheap halloween decorations than a true anatomical model.This product, however, is outstanding. The skull base is detailed -- not a perfect replica, but very close and an outstanding value without having to pay several times more for an even more precise model. Most of the associated foramen are present, but there is some odd asymmetry in the model -- for example in mine I have a clear foramen spinosum on the left side, the hole is present, but on the opposite side there's a mild indentation where the hole should be, but the hole isn't fully punched through.I want to stress, this is my being extremely picky -- for 99% of people using this skull model, they probably won't even notice that level of detail. This is -- by far -- the most accurate and detailed model I have had since medical school.This is a tremendous value for those who need a true anatomical model. It's a bit of overkill for someone looking for a decoration.The skull cap is held in to place by some well hidden magnets, the jaw articulates nicely with a spring closure to hold it all in place. I thought the 3 included "extra teeth" was a little silly and not really needed, but I'm not a dentist and this is the least important part of the model from my perspective.

This is a good tool for teaching about the human skull. I would purchase this for homeschool and this would be good in a classroom. All of the pieces are different colors, and my 12-year-old son was able to reassemble it pretty easily. There are little pieces, so I would make sure that you have your child do it on a table and keep up with the pieces. This should not be given to smaller children as some of the little pieces are choke hazards (it's not intended for smaller children so this didn't affect my review). It does say mini in the description, and this is small. I put a photo with a dollar bill for scale. One thing I didn't like about this set is that the information sheet is small and the print is very small. They could have provided a much better info sheet and since it's just paper, that shouldn't add to the cost. The sheet it came with folds like a card and when folded it's not much bigger than a credit card. I can barely read the print on it. Also, the product comes in a plain white box. The skull came wrapped in what looked and felt like plastic wrap. To me, the presentation of this is not giftable. It just looks cheap. I do like this product, and we will be using it for educational purposes.I do the majority of my shopping on-line and reviews are very important to me when choosing items. I am always honest with my reviews and have been writing them for a long time now to help others like I've been helped.
