It looks well made. The attachment points are good for what it is intended for, the carabiner end might or might not be too big to clip onto something on your tow vehicle.It has good retraction when released, maybe too much stretch when extended.The biggest question is the cable is made out of plastic with no metal cable core in case the plastic breaks under the load of being pulled in an emergency.I will keep them and use them for the moment, I do not trust them especially the older they get. I will replace them with something more trustworthy later.They would be great if they had a cable reinforcement inside the plastic cable.One way to use them would be to keep your existing metal cable and run the metal cable inside the spiral created by the plastic cable. Connect them together at each end. The plastic cable will keep the metal cable secure and off the ground, the metal cable will insure that the breakaway will be pulled in an emergency in case the plastic breaks.
