How to Stencil

Before using it, it’s recommended to slightly wet the back side of the stencil so it can stick to the bread. It really gives a beautiful result.

They're fun to work with. Buy a little spray bottle, fill with water, and spits before you flour. The work great on cakes, cupcakes, bread, rolls. Kids can use them as stencils

As you can see these bread stencils work really well. Super easy to use. I first dampened the surface of the bread, then sifted coca powder over the stencil. And viola!

I wanted to like these stencils... but I find them difficult to use! Perhaps I'm doing something wrong.... Besides being pretty small, they don't fit neatly over a rounded top artisan loaf, so the sifted flour drifts around the stencil, ruining the design. If you let your bread rise in bannetons (as I do) the spiral flour trail interferes with the design. And - I bake my bread in cast iron covered pots, so - surprise! - when you tip the loaf out of the pot, That messes up the design even more. If you bake your bread on a stone, the loaf design (if you got it on to begin with) may survive.... I'd suggest thinking how these would work for how you bake your bread. Overall, for me, not something I'm going to use.

Lovely bread stencils! Perfect for when you want to dress your bread up for a special occasion, or just because. Nice quality and thickness, tabs on the sides make them easier to remove without disturbing the design. Very happy with these!

I found that there was not enough space around the stencil.iI had to add paper with tape so i wouldn’t get flour on areas that i did not want flour.

These work wonderfully. Use white flour for dark bread and cocoa for lighter colored bread. Some folks apply a background of one or the other before using the stencils. The results are great. They add a little extra to your baking project for the holidays or when you bake an extra loaf of bread for a friend or neighbor. I'm sure these could be used on cakes and other baked goods as well but since I'm primarily a bread baker that is what my experience is.NOTE TO DISTRIBUTOR: The one negative I have about the product that should cost half a star is the complete lack of instructions or guidance of any kind with the product. It was a half-star issue to me because I'm fairly experienced in the kitchen but for someone else, it may just be a three or four-star disaster.

Nice size for use on Dutch Oven rustic breads. I've used flour and chocolate cocoa powder with success after spraying the loaf with water first, dusting with a small sieve. Use a lame or knife to slash along the sides below the applied design. I plan to try flour or chocolate on a flat surface and placing the water or oil-sprayed stencil over that with the oiled side up, then pressing the top of a roll into the stencil. These are fun to add an exclusive touch for baked gifts.
