Very useful. I like making quick breads; this makes it easier to slice them to a size just right--not skinny, and just thick enough to still fit into thick slot of my toaster. Its design also makes it possible to disassemble and store compactly on my kitchen counter.

love this, everyone in the house can cut nice even slices of bread and you don't have to worry about wood pieces getting shaved into your bread like the one that has wood slats on thee sides, that a big plus. easy to use and adjust to different size of breads.

Be aware. I didn’t pay much attention to the dimensions but maybe should have. The bad: it’s much smaller than what it appears in the pictures with bread on it on Amazon. Although it may be 9 inches long you’re not going to fit a 9 inch loaf into it when using the plastic position-stop plate in longest position. An 8 inch loaf looks like it will fit, which is an inch shorter than my (what I assume are) standard size bread pans. And that is the cutting board, not the length that the cutting guides run. Given the small size, storage should be easier. But you will need to move cut slices out of the way to deal with longer loaves of bread. The good: the metal cutting guides are closer together than they appear in the pictures. This should provide greater variability in slice thickness. I have not actually used it to cut bread yet. The unit appears sturdy.

The Resbywarm bread slicer is of good quality. The wooden surface is thick and heavy. The grooves are cleanly cut. The stainless-steel rails fit snugly in the grooves, staying secure while you slice. Since the rails are removable, it is easy to store, and there are 5 separate grooves, so you can adjust them to different widths of bread, rolls, etc. The slicer rinses clean and will be easy to maintain, perhaps applying a little oil to the wood on occasion. We’ve been using a plastic bread slicer for homemade bread for years. I was always slicing off pieces of plastic when I sliced my bread, knowing that it wasn’t any good for my knives (or the slicer). My husband used an electric knife with this slicer for the first time today on a homemade loaf of wheat bread. There is a little bit of a learning curve to getting the knife to slice right next to the rails, so you get even slices. On his first experience, he found that if he sliced between every two rails, he got slices about the width of Texas toast. If he sliced between each rail, the slices were a little thinner than your typical storebought bread. Perhaps placing the knife on alternate sides of the rails, you could get slices more like the storebought width. I think that the only thing about this slicer that I would change is maybe to make the space between each rail a little bigger. Perhaps also one more groove on the surface, because the hamburger sized rolls I make would fit more securely. Overall though, I think it is a pretty nice bread slicer.

I found it difficult to get precise sized slices

Slicing medium [10mm] slices for sarnies is a breeze. Whole loaf sliced within a minute.I've spent three months tying to cut thick slices [15mm] evenly for toasting but without success. My attempted 15mm slices are all over the place from about 13mm to almost 20mm.I wanted it for bread from my breadmaker [17x16x13cm***] and that just fits, albeit tightly.I bake the bread, let it cool, slice it medium [10mm] then chuck the whole lot in the freezer for individual retrieval as required.[I defrost them two at a time:- I use 2 dinner plates, the top one I upturn as a lid then splash water over its inside surface, zap for 30-40 secs turn over then give them another 30 secs.- I am, in effect, steaming them.]My previous electric slicer allowed me to have thick toastie slices [15mm].- I could chuck them straight in the toaster from frozen.- I could defrost them using the same method as medium slices.I am going to make my own slicer using 2 packets of 9 rods - www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0D1KGZPT6I am going to use 5mm rods because the thin bendy ones [3.5mm] in the current product are too flimsy.I'll just drill holes in a board at the necessary intervals. The 5mm rods are 40cm long so I'll cut them in half and end up with 36 20cm rods. That will be enough for me to make a 15mm slicer [24 rods] and, with extra rows of holes, a 10mm slicer [36 rods].*** My breadmaker pan is 17.6x13.6cm and the lid limits loaf height to 18cm so it's max 18x17.6x13.6cm. The loaf shrinks to 17x16x13cm as it cools.

It's a masterpiece! Excellent quality of materials. LOVE the ease and personal preference to cut a thin or thicker slice. Bring the metal sides inward to hold a narrow loaf, or outward to hold a thicker loaf or boule. Easy to use and soooo convenient.

It was awkward to get the hang of using this slicer, but it gives nice straight slices once you figure it out. The slicer is sturdy, stores easily, and is easy to clean.

I really appreciate that because it is stainless steel, your knife will not leave shavings in your slices as with the wood or plastic guides. The wood base is a great feature. And the stainless steal prongs are strong and probably will last a lifetime.
