As other reviewers have noted, these strike plates work great, are easy to install, and fit right in the place where the old strike plate goes, or where the pre-chiseled strike plate space is on a new pre-hung door. The strike plate pulls the door snug against the jam and unless you look you probably wouldn't notice that they're any different from any other plate. Someone incorrectly answered a question as to how many are included. There are two strike plates in the package. I installed them on two of my doors and now I'm back ordering more of them.

I loved this door strike while it lasted. It truly holds the door perfectly and I thought it was an amazing product while it lasted, however, after 8 months, it snapped into several pieces. First, the thin back part snapped (not shown in the photo because it fell off and was swept up) and then a few months later it snapped again, rendering the strike completely useless. Upon close examination of the product, the metal appears to be a cheap cast iron of some sort, similar to the cheap metal in junk import products that break after a short period of time. The strike would be amazing if they decided not to use a cheap casting process and I feel cheated that I was not informed about the low quality manufacturing involved. Perhaps, mine had a quality problem in the casting process (my door and molding is dead flat and the knob is aligned perfectly), and if that is the case, then it is my hope that the company would refund or replace this defective low-quality item. Thus, I cannot recommend this product unless you want it to potentially break in a short period of time. Secondly, if the company does not offer restitution for this defective product, then I also cannot recommend doing business with this company – if you do not see an update to my post here, it means that the company has not read and/or remediated this problem. Stay tuned, I will post a video review here and on youtube in the near future describing the quality of this product. I should also note that I have hung countless exterior and interior doors and repaired may others, so I have a strong background in door and lock installation. In summary, this is a fantastic concept, but it is hindered by the companies attempt to save money by using an inferior material.

These actually work. Over the years a couple exterior doors have moved enough that they don't seal tightly against the door seals and that lets air in. I have tried a few things that helped a little but when I saw these, I knew I had to try them. In one case I had to file the lower edge but after that it worked great and I was able to push the door closed better than it has been in years. In the other case, it worked with no filing or adjustment, you could immediately tell the door was now very tight against the seal. Now there was almost no movement of the doors against the door seals. To get any movement you have to push really hard against the doors whereas before it was easy.

This door strike works like a ratchet by allowing you to really close your doors tight. I put two of these on my basement doors and was amazed at how well they worked. I have ordered more for all my exterior doors. For the money, these probably pay for themselves in a week....plus it is a lot cheaper than trying to freshen up the slide in weather stripping that so many doors use these days. When you shut the door...just give it an extra push...you will hear it click as it snugs the door up against the door seals. For really loose fitting doors, you may need to move the strike plate towards the outside when you screw it down....this will help give you maximum closing adjustment.

This striker does exactly what it says it does. It gives your door multiple positions of 'close'. Now, even the slightest closing of the door clicks shut, and a hard closing also clicks shut. A hard closing causes the door to use one of the further away ridges on the striker, which then causes the door to be tighter against the weatherseal. The only drawback I've found is when it is this (very) tight, the doorknob is hard to turn because of all the pressure on the door. Now the trick is to shut the door lightly or medium. My door was a problem door that closed in different ways depending on the weather. Temperature and humidity affected how it clicked into the original striker, often not closing unless it was slammed, but also sometimes being so loose you could see sunlight coming in from all 4 sides. Previously, I adjusted the door and striker multiple times and also had a handyman do the same, but within a few weeks all the original closing/seal problems would return. I had decided the only real fix was to replace the entire door/frame assembly. I gave this device a try as a last resort and it worked.I made sure the striker was centered in the correct location of the door frame, which meant chiseling away some of the wood to enlarge the surrounding area so the striker would sit flush and the plunger would enter the hole in the center. After some trial and error I actually shimmed out the striker with a small piece of plastic cut from a plastic "for sale" sign because the gap between the door edge and door frame was too large (playing cards could also be used for this shim). With a little more measuring and a little chiseling, the door now closes first time - every time. As I said, the only drawback is that the door can now be closed too tight, but I think that's a better option than too loose or not at all, and if we shut the door 'normally' there's no problem, and no air leaks.I would definitely recommend this, especially for those problem, hard to adjust doors.

Works as a door strike. Might have made the seal a little tighter. Main issue is that now that door doesn't shut when my family swings it. They have to close it by pushing on it. With kids the chances it doesn't get closed right is pretty high.
