I think I was 7 when my dad restrung our Baccarat candelabra. I was home sick, and I remember watching my dad restringing the crystals. My dad also taught me needlepoint and I'm rather good. My dad was the artistic influence in all that I do with fibers. SO...after my dad recovered and came home from hospice over months ago, everytime I walked in, my beloved candelabra added to the sadness. Yellow. Sad. I'll take a picture on Sunday, but I can't even begin to explain when I walk in the front door, walk through the dining room, where my dad is...the difference is beyond. I no longer walk in, turn the lock, and am immediately depressed. These are exactly the right thing to replace the old candle covers on our dining room a chandelier, which had been yellowed by western sunlight. They are the same diameter as the old parts, which are about 13/16 inch in diameter (the plastic is thin but strong, so the inside and the outside diameters are almost equal). I needed six of these, and was glad to have extras from this package of twelve, as I had to cut them down to a 6.25 inch length, and I managed to wreck a few in the process. I cut them with scissors (I tried a couple of different pairs of scissors, first HDX, and then Westcott titanium, eventually returning to the HDX pair). Six cut well, three got messed up because the plastic is fairly tough to cut and the cut can go wrong (I will keep these three in case I need a shorter length someday for a different project), and I have three left over uncut. They get a tiny crimp mark when they are cut, but that does not show when they are installed. This was a quick project, and made a big difference in the appearance of the chandelier.
