We bought this blanket to deaden noise of a motor behind a wall. The blanket reduces the noise by at least 50%. Very happy with our purchase.

It was an easy install, and it blocks out all the noise from music. Great Quality.

Fully agree with Mike’s review. You cannot expect the noise totally disappear, but the noise can be reduced. I bought for my noisy AC. Using this as a screen between the AC and me, especially cover over the AC, the noise can be reduced to an acceptable level.

I used this to cover a single pane window to decrease or dampen ordinary traffic noise. The smell was awfuland in my opinion did not work especially for the money paid. The size was generous and It was thick. I believe made well but did not stand up to its claim to dampen noise effectively. I would pay even more if the item worked for me.

It muffles my dogs barking so the neighbors don't hear them as loud. But the music coming from upstairs all night is still loud. Does not muffle his sound.

This is NOT "soundproofing", even though the marketing (where they show it reducing external noise from 80db to 40db). These can be used in various places, but for illustration, let's assume you put up 6 of this to create a cube - 4 walls and on on top and one in the bottom. While it may slightly reduce external noise entering your environment, which BTW will vary depending on frequency - to eliminate lower base frequencies require at least six inches of fairly dense material to block the sound. This will block low frequencies not at all and will work better at progressively higher frequencies. That being said, do not buy this at any blanket with the intention of blocking out external sounds or keeping in loud sounds (like if you are a drummer). What this DOES do is acoustically "deaden" an area for a much cleaner recording, especially with voiceover and even instrumental work. This falls into the class of sound TREATMENT, NOT SOUND PROOFING. In fact, very, very few things can offer soundproofing (nothing on Amazon). If you are looking at SOUND PROOFING, you need to either build a studio or buy a double walked studio booth which will cost you $15k-$20k. Go to studiobricks or whiskerroom to understand what soundproofing is.That being said, the blankets are some of the best SOUND TREATMENT you can buy - setting up a space to get nice dry, low noise professional recording that is accousticakly transparent and "dry". If a Harley drives by, sorry, but nothing below $15,000 will save that particular recording. These blankets give you the potential to create an acoustically "dead" space without the reflection of frequencies of the range of most vocal sound and some instrument sound. In other words, it will eliminate reverb from the room you are in - and the more complete the better. The "cube" is best, but if you just wish to hang then throught a space, they will still perform the job of absorbing many frequencies. Sure, putting it over a window will absorb some of those frequencies, but not enough to give you what you want.I see negative reviews from people not knowing what they are buying. You are buying SOUND TREATMENT AND NOT SOUNDPROOFING.

it helps, it doesnt block a lot of sound. but it helps a bit. maybe a few of these together and tack the edges to the wall. but the price is a bit high for what is expected and how it performs.
