It seems like a wow pedal but realistically it has pretty poor performance. It has different space options, such as room, hall, etc, but it doesn't make a big difference. The shimmer makes the sound too high-pitched. The +delay is weak, as well as all other options. The spring is the only one that sounds good, but buying a pedal with one option for almost $400 is too much. I have two other reverb pedals with fewer features (one for $400 and another for $60) but they sound much better and more natural. More options don't mean better quality. Also, if you want to buy and try this one (cause it is the only way to understand how it works and sounds) and change your mind, you must pay for a return. I paid $20. There are no other options. Even you have Amazon Prime. It's better to go to any music store with it in stock and try it there, or buy and return it.

The options and variations are endless. The Hold feature opens so many ways to enhance your sound. Spend a little while and watch as many YouTube videos as you can to get a good understanding of how to operate it.

It really pains me to give such a lukewarm/negative review of the RV-200 because I wanted this pedal to come out BADLY ever since the 200 series first appeared. At one point or another, I've owned the overdrive (OD-200), delay (DD-200), synth (SY-200), and the IR-200, which is sort of like a stripped-down amp modeler and IR loader. By and large, the whole series is great. The 200 series hits that "goldilocks zone" between a basic compact pedal and the larger 500 series, which has tons of options but is also quite large and requires menu diving. Most of the 200 pedals can also be run on batteries (3 AA), and the RV-200's battery life easily met the 4 hours advertised, which I thought was very convenient for casual use (and busking, if needed). But the problem with the RV-200 is in the sounds. I want to make clear that I love BOSS pedals, and the compact RV-6 (which I will be re-buying) is one my favorite multi-reverb pedals of all time. It's also nearly half the price of the RV-200. So, it begs the question why someone would look at the RV-200 when it's $270 price tag is creeping into the territory of Strymon, UAFX, and some of the other big boys in that area. For me, this is the fundamental problem with the RV-200 - the modes it gets right are just as well-done on units costing far less, and the few "unique" modes it offers really aren't useful to justify the price tag.Even worse, some of the more basic reverb modes just sound "broken" on the RV-200, in a way that I never experienced on the RV-6. The plate and spring reverbs have this weird, resonating, artificially "clang" in their decay. It's present on many different settings and I tried it into several different amps. At first, I thought it was only an issue when trying to run the RV-200 into the front of an amp (as opposed to the FX loop). But after more time, I decided that this is just how the pedal sounds, I don't like it.The Shimmer and new "Arpverb" really need to be standouts here to convince people to use this instead a smaller, cheaper option like the RV-6, EHX Oceans 11, or many others. Unfortunately, they both suffer from a well-documented digital "harshness" and, even worse, the pitch tracking on the added harmonic content always sounded off to me. I knew better than to expect a $400-quality Shimmer from BOSS, but really expected something better executed than this.Yes, the Room and Hall settings are mostly fine, and I did really like the form factor and the specific control over high and low EQ for each of the modes. The RV-200 is also MIDI-compatible (with a special BOSS cable that converts DIN MIDI to 1/8" stereo jack), and that is an important advantage over most compact reverb pedals. But at the end of the day, something just felt "off" about many of these reverb modes were executed. If you're committing to something at this price and something this large that only does reverb on your pedalboard, it really needs to get it right. Reasonable minds can differ and I'm sure other users can find great utility out of this pedal, but I'm afraid I'll be looking in another direction.

This unit is great. What else can I say. It was just what I was needing. Quite a few settings to play with.
