I bought this spade set for future projects as I had a basic set that I used for a few things, and wanted to upgrade my bits so I am prepared for what comes down the line. This seems like a good quality set. It features several sizes (more than my basic kit has) and stores everything in its own pouch/bag. Overall, I am happy with this product and confident that when I will need it, it will not fail to deliver.

Instrument is good. Could use a better storage box. Has screw in the middle that helps grip. If you need to make 1/2 inch deep holes it will have to pass through 3/4 material in the middle due to screw.

These bits are the ultimate spade bits you could own. I highly recommend using an Impact driver rather than a drill. Using an impact driver removes the chance of the bit ‘locking up’ and spinning your wrist, and let’s the bit ‘waltz’ through the wood.

Use extreme caution when using these with a hand held drill. When I first used them, I wasn't as careful and the drill ripped right out of my hands. Fortunately I was able to let go with no injuries. The set comes with a lot of sizes and they work perfectly once I got used to using them. If you start your project with a small hole and gradually increase the diameter, you'll find that these work amazingly. They are very loud when in use, but they chew through wood very quickly. For the cost, it's 100% worth it! The travel case is really nice and offers a perfect way to keep the set organized.

I had a cheap set of spade bits and was tired of the tear out when using them. I upgraded to these (you get what you pay for is the lesson) and wow what a difference. with the threaded tip this pulls the spade through the wood without much force making a clean cut.Not sure why I waited so long but thinking of purchasing these for my son as a gift so he also has a quality set.

extremely strong and aggressive. if used with a drill press it will pull up the piece of wood if not secured strongly to the table. Forget about holding the wood by hand.
