This can easily be clipped to many places on a kayak, and are just the right length to allow movement without being too long that they are in the way.

A little long for me but that's ok. Cheap insurance so you dont lose your rod and reel. I would buy again.

These will absolutely do the job (Retaining fishing rods) and will last a long time.

So my friend lost a few rods. They flew out of his boat's tower rod holders when running.I got him these to hopefully keep that from happening again. For more than a year, there hasn't been any lost rods. These things have held up to salt water and abuse that comes from running a boat, open throttle with a variety of wave chop.

Was bottom live bait fishing on the pier. Left rods unattended briefly to marshall my trash and toss it in the can. Fishing partner yells at me that I'm hooked up. Rod tip down to China, 9 feet of graphite arced into a parabola. Less than 5 seconds later the clamp on rod holder failed. The rod collapses into the drink with just the reel and butt visible. It was tethered by a blue coiled cord. After gingerly pulling on the lanyard to save my gear, I was greeted with an intact rod with an extraordinarily angry fish still on the end of the line. Fish landed with lots of violence and panic followed by numerous congratulations and nervous jokes. This story would have been very different if it wasn't for the warnings of old pier rats and this product.Strong velcro strap bands, sturdy carabiners, strong coiled vinyl coated steel cables with heat shrinked crimps. Plus they look very professional. Held up better than my back. I highly recommend for serious pier rats.

It would be nice if I could attach to the actual rod so it would fit in my kayaks rod holders but only fits the grips. If I put it right in the middle of the bottom grip it doesn’t get in my but doesn’t allow it to fit all the way in the hole but enough that it stays put. There’s not enough keeper to keep it from snagging if you put it in front of the reel and I found that disappointing. All that aside, works fine, feels sturdy and tight, I’ll probably look for other options down the road.

The more time you spend in a kayak the more things you will donate to the deep. I have been Kayak fishing for over 10 years and I promise you anything you buy to keep things from drowning is better than nothing because eventually would will end up in the drink if not.I had a bunch that I made that I used for years and started to wear down. I had just lost a pair of plyers that I had had for over ten years and used in every Kayak Ive ever owned. Finally they took the jump and are forever gone. So I ordered me a set of plyers and a bunch of these lanyards.I have a 90 dollar bump board for tourneys that needed a legit lanyard. Works perfect.I put these on my grips and works perfect. If you don't buy these buy something.
