Disclaimer: I am not an experienced bookbinder. In fact, this set will be my first time binding a book that has several signatures and an actual cover. However, I'm looking forward to using this set as my first attempt as it contains the majority of what I need to complete this project with the exception of an awl, needle, thread, and PVA glue. However, since I already owned the latter for single signature binding and perfect binding, this set bridges the gap between binding a simple booklet and binding a full book. The first thing that I noticed and was impressed by is how well the items are packaged. The seller even included corner protectors on the book boards which was nice as I have a set of book boards that arrived slightly bent since they did not include this level of protection. I'm also impressed with the book cloth as it feels durable yet looks very polished, though I wish they would have described what type of fabric was used to make them so that I would know how best to care for it. The bone folders are the standard ones that come with almost any bookbinding set that you might purchase on this platform. They do the job, but I have one from another well-known brand that I prefer to use for my projects. Overall, I think that this would be a good starter set for anyone looking to get started in this craft without breaking the bank. It is definitely for smaller projects given the size of the book cloth, but I like to make booklets no larger than 4x6 in size, so this set is ideal for me.

I will definitely be ordering again this came well packaged, and every thing is what was pictured. I loved the fact that the binders board corners had protectors so they showed up perfect. Thank you for the care you take with the products you sale.

Everything was packed well and no damage.I know people have been complaining about crushed corners. My panels were wrapped in bubble wrap and had corner protectors on it. So no damage.As far as the components themselves, they appear to be made of quality materials.

Because the book cloth is only marginally bigger than a single board the 10 pieces of book cloth will not be enough to cover 10 5x7 books. You need two boards and a spine to complete a book, so there is not enough board or cloth to complete the stated 10 books.

The board books are on the thinner side but they work. The book cloth is too small to even wrap one book, you’d have to overlap or have 2 tone books using different colors and overlap. The tools provided are nice.

This has a lot of pieces to get you started, but not really a great quality set, including the bone folders. The book board is thinner than I'd like and the book cloth can only be used on a smaller project to get the coverage you'd want with it. All in all, I'd say they'd make good practice level materials to use to learn your technique with but nothing you'd want to use to make a professional looking end product that you might sell, or even really gift. It also has no guidance at all so you would be dependent on online tutorials to learn anything if you are a true beginner and have never tried bookbinding at all.

This has the potential to be a great kit, but no instructions come with it. It is difficult to figure out how to use it without the instructions.

While I feel that there are definitely some tools that could have been included and I don't necessarily like the cover options that were provided, I find that this makes for a great starter kit for anyone who is interested in book binding purely because it is affordable. (Under $15 at the time of this review.) You'll want to really do your research here and pick up a few other tools including the thread and whatnot to create your signatures, glue, etc., but this makes for an excellent "first attempts" kit to practice your skills on or just some added supplies to add to your stockpile.But I will note that if you're purchasing this because you think it'll be a good beginner set, know that this product is not that and does not seem to be marketed as such. There are several negative reviews that mention a lack of instructions, so know what you're purchasing: supplies and supplies only.
