I think like most people I've been through many shedders, just hoping to find one that works. This is that shredder! The heft alone tells you this is a quality product. It's very quite and will chew up anything you feed it. It keeps running for as long as you need it to, says 40 minutes but who needs 40 minutes to shred? Automatic forward/backward movement makes the finished product pretty small. Highly suggest this unit if you need a shredder.

This is just what I needed.I tried to destroy my important papers by turning them into pulp, but that was too much work, and it took too much time. This shredder came in handy. It shredded rather quickly, but it kicks out so much dust I felt that I needed a breathing mask.Value for the money: goodPaper capacity: goodEase of use: goodFit: goodFunctionality: good

First off, this works on cardboard. I couldn't find that in any of the reviews, so I'll just park that little factoid right up front. You're welcome.Listen. I don't write product reviews. I don't sit around and talk about shredders and office products. I raise worms and make compost as a hobby, and my partner orders things from Amazon. A lot. I love her.I have an old Royal shredder I got like a decade ago from Sam's Club. I use it to shred old bills once a year or so, and it gets grumpy. It's always gotten grumpy. This is not a new development. I've started using it to shred cardboard for composting and for my worms, and it gets grumpier. So, there was a sale, and I bought this bad boy. When it got here and I unpacked it, my partner had 3 of her own Amazon boxes arrive. I also had several boxes around from prior orders I hadn't managed to shred yet, because the old grumpy shredder couldn't run for more than 2 or 3 minutes without stopping to cool.To be fair, I live in Texas, and it's July. I need to cool off after shredding for 3 minutes.Still. I got this monster out of the box and plugged it in and tried to see if regular cardboard would fit without pushing like crazy, and it did. But you already knew that. Awesome. It's a little slower than my old shredder, but it didn't change speed when it was between feedings. It just goes. It's like the tortoise in the fable. I wonder how much this thing will take.35 gallons. I made 35 gallons of shredded cardboard.I made a little over 20, at first, with just the regular wimpy Amazon boxes. Never. Slowed. Down. Also, when it takes a break and is waiting for you to feed it, or empty the rapidly filling bucket, or squee with joy to your partner, it has a pleasant little fan noise. It's just pacing itself.I bought a bedroom TV during Prime Day sales, I wonder what it'll do with the double thick box they shipped that in?It slowed down. The tiniest, barely perceptible amount, but it did slow down. It made 3 cubic feet of cross cut sheds out of it.I wonder what it'll do with that old double thick cardboard they shipped my computer in? It made a million little confettis out of it.*Long story short, this thing is a beast. Do not buy this to shred something once a week. Do but buy this to shred one household of mail.Buy this to shred every bill you've ever received. Buy this to erase any record of your existence. Buy this to shred the patriarchy, and to make your worms a year's worth of bedding. You will not be disappointed, unless you like waiting for shredders that need to rest. Then, you'll be bummed for about an hour. I put cardboard through this thing for 30 minutes, only stopping to find more cardboard. It never blinked.BRB, I have to ask the neighbors for their cardboard. And 2 x 4s.*I did not count.

Works great. Replaced my 10 year old Fellows...much quieter and powerful. It is a little slower for single sheets.

Previously we had two shredders. Both were under £90. They would overheat after shredding a few sheets, and they were noisy. Five minutes of shredding, it would overheat. We got tired of waiting for it to cool down after every use. Neither of them were able to keep up with our workflow. We ended up with a big pile of paperwork that needed shredding, but with no shredder up to the task. We needed a new one with a bigger capacity, what stopped us was the price. Was it worth getting a more expensive one?The answer is yes! This shredder is worth every penny. This new Bonsai shredder is perfect! And here's why:- It can shred continously for half an like it says.- It is quieter compared to the other two we had.- It's easy to use. Insert paper and shred. No more than 14 sheets at a time which is fine.- It has a fan cooling system inside.- The oiling makes it more effective. So far so good. Just make sure you oil it after every few shred loads. I recommend for office. This is an Office Manager's new favourite tool. ^_^

Really? I'm pausing my shredding to go to my computer to write a review? Well, this unit is impressing me that much.I've replaced a Fellowes DS-3 shredder, which is a similar size. The DS-3 broke when one of the plastic gears in the drive train shed a gear -- a tiny piece of plastic snaps and the whole thing goes in the trash. I hate that. But seizing an opportunity to get a better shredder, I researched quite a bit and selected this Bonsaii. The features I liked in the listing were its 14 sheet capacity (the DS-3 claimed 10 sheets, but no way) and its quieter operation. My wife really hated the sound of the DS-3, so that appealed. It arrived fast, I plugged it in. Bright red LED, I'm going to have that on all the time? May have to put some electrical tape over it. I put my first sheet in to test it. It's indeed quieter than the DS-3. But...slower. Hmm. Maybe only two thirds as fast pulling the paper through the drivetrain. Perhaps my throughput will be the same because I can put more sheets at a time through it? I was skeptical.Well today I gave it its first big run. This little guy seems unstoppable. Yes, it feeds in a slow and stately manner, but it doesn't slow down when you feed it more than a few sheets (the Fellowes was always straining), it just maintains its constant speed. I shoved 15 sheets into it, and it took it like a champ, without breaking much of a sweat. 15 sheets is a good handful of paper. So I've been feeding it gobs of paper, not even counting, probably over the 14 page limit from time to time, and it just nonchalantly plows through it all, no worries at all. With the Fellowes, it was always suspenseful -- it's choking, will it make it through? Will I have to pull the paper back out? Did I jam it again? Whew... Repeat. Little drama queen, that Fellowes.Anyway, when the bin on the Bonsaii filled up I slid out the drawer (mashed the shreds down a bit, and got a bunch more papers through before I HAD to dump it) and took it out to the bin without leaving a mess of paper leavings on the office floor. With the Fellowes I had to pick up the entire top part, invariably leaving paper dangling, and set it on the floor, paper dust going everywhere, to dump the bucket. So this new design will work much better for me, though I can imagine difficulties if I overfill it with shreds, since pulling out a tray when the paper shreds are stacked higher than the top of the door will probably scrape a pile of paper shreds into the inside of the machine. Will have to see.But all in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase. Strong, steady, not jamming (yet), I haven't tried abusing it (shoving in ten sheets cockeyed so they buckle and bend) but I'm sure that'll happen. If anything untoward happens, I'll update this review. But very pleased so far.==========================================================UPDATED 9/2018Just ran through a heavy load of shredding and the unit ran like a champ (no issue with overheating, and I put quite a lot through it.) I did have a problem, though -- perhaps due to shreds piling up inside the unit and getting caught back in the teeth. Specifically, the grinding teeth are all metal but there is a plastic part underneath which helps clear the teeth which failed. It still shredded but didn't sound good, and I thought AUGH!, crippled after just nine months. BUT -- and I am BLOWN AWAY by this -- I contacted customer support via the link on their website, and SOMEONE GOT BACK TO ME WITHIN HOURS ON THE SUNDAY OF LABOR DAY WEEKEND. They stood behind their product and I'm up and running again. I have never had customer service like that. I was floored, and of course very pleased. I'll be very mindful of emptying the bin more frequently if that was a contributing factor, but as I've said it's a really solid performer that can handle thick bundles of paper (send them through straight so they don't fold) and when it starts to heat up a little fan comes on to help cool it down. I've had almost no jams in all this time, and it seems very clear that if you treat it with respect (don't shove a phone book in there) and empty the bin, it should do well by you. And the customer support was AMAZING.
