Love this Kayak Dolly! It makes it so much easier to move our kayaks around! It is so much easier than carrying kayaks. Love this.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but this kayak cart came highly recommended from a stranger who was using one and said it's the best thing since sliced bread. As it turns out, following the directions exactly concerning where to place the supplied straps and ratchet straps, does exactly what is needed.Other reviewers suggest replacing the straps, and I did try that. The cart tends to go its own way and the kayak slides off or falls over, despite what felt like adequate tightening of the alternative straps. So we scrapped that idea and used the OEM straps exactly where the instructions say to, and it holds not just one kayak, but two (55 lbs each). We had to secure the two craft together after strapping the lower kayak to the cart, but it really did work, twice. We're fairly impressed. Two items worth noting, which are why I gave this cart a 4-star for Maneuverability and a 4-star for Easy to use:The cart instructions specify placing it a little past center (i.e., closer to stern). This works great on flat ground, and is definitely not great if going up a steep boat ramp, which will definitely scrape the kayak hull. Thus mounting the kayak further back (and of course then bearing more of the weight) becomes critical. There's really no geometric fix for this except bigger wheels. Just keep it in mind.Ease of use: yep, it's easy to use, but easy does not equate to quick to use. Setup from wheels-off to having two kayaks secured and ready to pull, amounts to several minutes. I had magical thoughts that I could plop the craft(s) on the cart, cinch a single strap, and off I'd go. So, so silly of me.Other usage notes: the cart doesn't seem to care at all if it gets wet. I have lashed it to the deck several times in a fresh water lake and got it soaked, and it works just fine. Obviously aluminum will not rust the way that steel will, and this falls out of the equation. The linchpins seem high-quality and appear to be stainless, but they seem likely to fall out when the cart is stowed broken down (wheels off) on deck. Thus I'm using a small mini-carabiner to connect them to a loop on my fishing shirt so they cannot drop to the bottom of a 200-ft deep lake. The foam cushions seem nice and durable enough, but they slide a bit when bearing the load of one or two kayaks. This is a bit of a problem since potentially the hull could come to rest on aluminum tubing. I'm making a habit of checking their position now and then, and correcting when needed. Finally, the screw tension for the spring detents was set too loose at the factory, and needed to be adjusted a fair amount, so the tubing don't just fold up into storage position when weight is added.Edit: tested flotation and the wheels float very well and the structure does not (with the wheels removed). I then partially disassembled it and stuffed the tubes full of 3/4" backer rod. I have not been out yet to re-test, but I suspect it now floats, or at least won't sink quite as quickly.Summary: a surprisingly effective accessory that will save many an aging back from premature ruin. It does not submit well to overthinking it -- just follow the instructions for setup and strap position. You may choose to replace the ratchet straps with ones you like better, but using two ratchet straps does seem to be highly important to keep the kayak and cart going the same direction.

Picked this item because of both the price point and the good reviews. So far I’ve only been able to use it a few times, but it works great. We have two Bote kayaks that we can double stack on this (along with equipment) to transport from the parking lot to the water. No complaints so far. It’s stable and easily attached to our boats. Saves me from having to make multiple trip from the car to the water. Now I wish I had gotten it sooner.

I spent probably more time than I should have reading product reviews on kayak carriers. I enjoy taking lengthy river trips (multi-day & hundreds of miles) so I am always a little afraid of being far away and having my equipment fail. This most recent trip involved a portage around three separate spillways—which were about 2.5 miles from first to the last. Some of the negative reviews for this item stated that this carrier collapses easily or the kayak slides right off. When we reached the first portage area, we continued up a muddy path to a small gravel access road next to a train track (see photos). The gravel was huge (#4 limestone if you are familiar with gravel types). About ten feet on the road the carrier collapsed. Reset, tie-down, go another 10-15 feet, collapse again. This happened a half dozen more times even after experimenting with several more tie-down options. I was extremely frustrated, to say the least. There was no way we were going to continue this way for 2.5 miles. I was ready to throw the thing in the river and beg someone to drive 60 miles and pick us up. Finally, the last attempt involved strapping it under one bar, pulling the tension and excess upwards, then going across the other side and doing the same thing—rather than running the strap in one continuous loop underneath and around. This created a barrier preventing side-by-side shifting and also prevented further collapsing. Once that was accomplished I was able to continue to pull the loaded-down kayak over heavy gravel the entire distance. No, it was not fun and the plastic wheels offered no assistance as it wedged and cluttered over the layers of stone. However, it worked and did not collapse, nor did the frame break apart. This was the ultimate terrain test for this carrier. For me, this was a victory, although hard fought. When I needed it the most, it did the job—and that is how I can most accuracy rate any piece of equipment. Pros: cost, light-weight, sturdy, comes with straps, and easy to assemble. Cons: wheels could be slightly bigger and a little more forgiving (all depending on what you are doing), kickstand seemed hard to manipulate.

Initially when I bought this product there weren't any reviews. I was hopeful that this product would be better than the descriptions of some similar products. This turned out to be better than anticipated! I used the Bonnio FCH Boat Kayak Canoe dolly to take my Old Town kayak down to our local lake. I needed to tow my heavy plastic kayak quite a distance over a rough path and a paved walkway to reach this lake. This lake does not have a boat launch for your car. This dolly did the job beautifully! Also, I wanted to attach this dolly device with me on the kayak. I was able to use the bungee attached to my kayak and add the bungees that came with this dolly to tie it securely onto the back of my kayak directly behind my seat. BTW, I've read reviews of similar products with complaints about the tires smelling bad. These solid tires don't have a noticeable odor. They are very easy to assemble. The instructions were easy to follow throughout. There is a kickstand to use while positioning your boat on top of the dolly. Everything looks solid. This is a great product for towing your boat when you can't directly unload the boat in the water from your vehicle.
