I've used it to shape a few rocks on a dry laid stone wall. In conjunction with a pitching and pointing chisel, can have much more flexibility in choice of rocks that will maintain level. Seems like the metal might be a bit soft given the nicks already present on both ends - time will tell but so far i'm satisfied with the purchase.

Edit: I’ve used this on some larger stock recently and it was actually very helpful so I upgraded to 4 stars. If the stone weighs less than 100 lb this probably isn’t the correct tool, but when it does and you need to do some rough shaping this is more useful than I originally thought.Original review:It’s ok, heavy hammer and it will destroy a stone before it shapes it sometimes. If I had it to do over again I’d have made due with a masons hammer until I can afford a carbide tool, this one just loses its shape pretty quick when you put it through its paces.

Very high quality too. It's nice and heavy and will get the job done!! Make sure you get fat chisels though, or you might crush your thumb.

I just finished building 800 ln.ft. of rock wall, 48" thick and couldn't have done it without this Hammer. It is heavy and made for working with larger rock. I also used a 24oz brick hammer that I also purchased from Bon Tool company. They defintely make a team. I would buy both if you have a large job coming up.
