I have a broom that I purchased in 1990 (no, I'm not making this up) for sweeping on very smooth finished floors. It was FANTASTIC, and it lasted for all these years. But the fibers became so bent and worn over time that it was time to get a new broom head. So, I purchased FIVE (not just one, not two, not three, not even just four) broom heads from Amazon. (Nope, still not kidding). Why? Just so that I could get a really good broom for smooth finished floors. Two of broom heads had RIDICULOUS amounts of dust and fibers that created more dust and fibers on the floor while sweeping. Another was just WAY too stiff for smooth floors. Another was VERY similar to (almost identical to) this broom head, but it was TWICE the price. BOTTOM LINE: This broom head has very soft fibers, very densely packed which is great for fine dust, and it's FANTASTIC for smooth finished floors. BUT . . . for me, the pre-drilled holes in the wooden base where you screw in the broom handle were drilled at an angle that is WAAAAAY too upright (angled too high) for sweeping. (This seems to be the case on most of the wooden broom heads these days.) So, I purchased an add-on bracket that has a much better angle for sweeping. I had to do some pretty precise measuring (and some pretty precise drilling) into the wooden broom head to make this bracket work. I also had to use my own 3/4" screws. But with this bracket, and the addition of the support bracket that I already had from the older broom head, I now have a REALLY GREAT broom. PS - If you decide to get this broom head, and use the bracket and support bracket, make sure you center them on the broom head, not just side to side but also front to back so that you can rotate the broom head occasionally to extend its life. Hope this is helpful!
