I purchased 2 of these for monitoring the power on a mobile air-quality laboratory. The installation is very straight forward. The ammeter has 2 parts: a doughnut shaped pickup and a panel mounted meter. To install: #1. Run your husky main cable through the center of the pickup. #2. Connect the pickup's 2 wires onto the meter. That's it. The one complaint I have is that you're only given about 6" of signal wire. However, it's easy to splice in an extra 10' or 20' of 18awg if you need to.I don't understand how the "physics magic" works, but the meter gives accurate readings and is totally passive: it works without phantom power, batteries, or anything. On a single phase 120/240v multi-wire system (Line 1, Line 2, Neutral, Ground) you will need 2 units. One ammeter for Line 1 and a separate unit for Line 2. This allows you to verify your power draw is reasonably balanced.In a nut shell: It comes with legible instructions, was simple to install, gives instant readings, and was perfect for my application. I can't ask for more!!!
