Was very disappointed that it will only accept a 16AWG wire. IMO it should accept a larger 14AWG wire at a minimum. FYI, 16AWG wire is like very small speaker wire. Insufficient for all but the most light and minor loads. Also the screw terminals are very disappointing. Thats the bad news. The good news is the rubber seal makes a nice tight fit if you have the right type of socket. It rests in the socket and wont wiggle around. This was the primary purpose for trying this plug. However, because of the small gauge wire I likely wont be using it for much (USB charger maybe). Overall? pass on this and try something that will accept a bigger wire and allow a few more amps. I wouldn't put 10 amps into a 16AWG wire and expect to have good results. It will almost certainly get very hot and melt something. Maybe I can solder some 14AWG wire onto the terminals. I will update this if it is a suitable solution.Do yourself a favor and buy this instead https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XJWSWQ9 and cut the Refrigerator end off. This one has 4 of the negative side clips and holds it very tight in the socket. If you need the water protection add your own 2 cent O-ring. Its still only 16awg but its a much better plug and already has a cord installed.

I bought this to replace an old one that was starting to come apart on a 12 volt fridge plug. It worked great. I ended up soldering the wires onto the posts inside this plug. I could have used a spade or ring terminal instead, but I am practicing soldering so why not do that. It fits nice and tight inside the 12 volt socket. The ring to keep water from the end helps with that. Worked great for me.

Plug paired with Blue Sea Systems 12 Volt Outlet works as advertised. Plug stays locked in keeping my Iceco VL45 Pro running as it should while driving off-road. Highly recommend all Blue Sea Systems products, they are worth the extra spend.

Unfortunately, I could not give this product a 6 or 7-star rating because there is no way to select more than 5 stars. I used this to replace the factory plug that came on my aviation portable radio. The factory plug kept working its way out of the plug receptacle and I would have to push it back into place. This plug has easy to connect wiring connections that do not need soldier, it was almost as if the person who designed it actually thought about the end user who had to use it. Great product, I may order a couple more just in case I need them in the future for another project.

This is a great replacement 12 Volt plug. It has a rubber sealing ring that help keep the socket connection clean and firmly in place. There is an inline replaceable 10 amp fuse. There is a great wire strain relief included and there are screw terminals so no soldering is required. The plug body is made of heavier plastic and there is an indicator light that lights when plugged and and there is power. Does not feel or look like some of the other cheaper ones on the market. A great product and worth the price! I highly recommend this product and the company to anyone looking to replace or use a plug of this type.

I bought this plug so I could make my motorcycle GPS portable between two bikes. I didn't want to hardwire it in and have to buy two expensive power cords so I added this 12v plug and can move it from one bike to the other as needed.Anything I have bought from Blue Sea Systems has been well made and engineered to withstand being outside and or near salt water. This is no exception. Not cheap for what it is, but if it lasts then its worth not having to go back to fix or replace it. That is the lesson you learn from buying cheap stuff sometimes.

Update. unfortunately this plug has not worked out the way I thought it was going to be being a premium Marine item. Besides that the plug runs very hot pulling your constant 4 amps, its internal spring is no longer strong enough now to push the tip out when contacting the inside of a socket.works great if I take it apart but if you put it together it doesn't work anymore, besides that the plastic twist top now no longer gets snug on the top. Very disappointedI use this to rewire a koolatron 12 volt ice chest, works beautifully now. The holes are a little small but you are working with small wires. If it doesn't work right away you will probably have to switch the wires around. you may not see it in the picture, there is a rubber ring around the front of it. This is for the blue sea receptacle, it makes it watertight, so this makes it a little loose in regular 12 volt socket.it doesn't bother me,you just have to look down at the green light every so often to make sure it's plugged in. Definitely high quality and worth every penny just that's the one little thing about it that you should know.

I bought this to use with the matching Blue Sea outlet (of which I’ve had many over the years) for a 12v refrigerator in the bed of my truck. The adapter is nice and holds firmer than most adapters but it does not truly “lock” into the outlet. I expected threads or a tabs to physically hold the plug in. What you get instead is a relatively firm hold with the rubber seal creating a tight friction fit. Not a mechanical lock like you might expect with other automotive connectors. Also the spring looked fine to me for 15a, not sure what the other reviewers are talking about. It’s much thicker than the wire of a corresponding fuse but if you wanna upgrade it then a spring assortment is only $5 for 80 at Home Depot.
