These are pretty slick. If you commonly use alpine draws, you know how sometimes they can be a little fussy. ....generally when you are rather pumped and your fingers are frozen. Next thing you know, your second drops three carabiners trying to clean them, and you are having to get creative to finish out the last pitch with enough gear. These could, in fact, make the whole process a little smoother. The carabiner lives in its little sewn loop, which is tight enough to keep it pretty well oriented. When you extend them to reduce rope drag or get around some bulky ice, there are less loops and tangles involved as there would be with a traditional sewn sling. The only trouble I have been having is that if you are not careful with how you rack them, when you extend them you end up essentially tying a munter hitch around the upper carabiner. ....all things considered, I do not see this reducing the strength of the gear or otherwise creating a potential hazard, it just messes with my perfectionism I often desire towards life safety systems. ....I think we all know that if you were 20 feet above the sucker you would have a couple of shattered tibial plateaus regardless of how pretty the draw looked.
