I've purchased three 50ft Blue Bird hoses & reels over the past 6 years, and recently two 3/8 x 50ft replacement hoses. The first hose & reel purchased in 2018 is still working great! So I bought a 2nd in 2023. For some reason that hose & reel didn't deliver the same volume of air compared to our first hose reel. No problem every manufacturer sometime produces a defective item. I bought another 50ft reel to replace it in May of 2024. The hose on that reel developed a bubble shortly after 8 weeks and apparently Blue Bird doesn't accept returns after 30 days. So I bought a replacement 3/8x50ft hose. The package I received said 50ft but the hose inside was 25ft. I sent it back & ordered another only to receive a second 25ft hose in a 50tft wrapper. So, one great experience and 4 other fails = 1 Star - wacky!

The loaded spring is a bit weak, I feel like wiggles a lot on the freeway since I have it on my service truck other than that it works good

Installed reel and after about 2 weeks of use it began not ratcheting...so it had constant tension on the reel. As soon as I contacted the company, they responded quickly with a video link on a possible fix. Without any other contact I received a shipping notice that my exact replacement with a brand new one was on the way. I received it a few days later. WOW - THIS IS CUSTOMER SERVICE. They are now the reel brand I will always use.

Reel itself is beefy, lots of retraction power and pretty decent ratchet locking. The problem I had was with the hose and clamps. The assembly had the hose kinked closed about half way at the center rotating fitting. In order to get it back to round it required removing both hose clamps and making a better loop in the hose. Of course both hose clamps needed to be re-rounded over a socket to fit the hose.The hose seems no where close to as flexible as the Flexzilla hose and is also heavier. It says it is rubber so it should be good for cold.There is an included template for the mounting holes but being a smaller version of the 50 and 60 foot reels means that access to the mounting holes is limited when mounting it to a wall,Overall, it is not a bad unit, just not a good one.

This thing is sturdy. Be sure to make sure you have the correct adapters to connect to your system. This uses large 1/2 inch NPT connectors and includes a single adapter for 3/8 inch NPT. Most big box store fittings are 1/4 inch NPT.

Overall I like this hose reel and it seems to work well and is well constructed and sturdy. The only thing I don't understand is why the hose leader doesn't have a swivel end on at least one end! This problem seems very consistent across the industry though, since many of the other leaders I've bought are the same way. Makes no sense to me.

Seems very high quality and will most likely last forever. Helps make my shop less messy and is very convenient. Would recommend for someone needing high air flow.
