This is a very handy set of tools for stringed instrument setup. My only complaint is that the files are flimsy and you have to be careful how you use them as they can bend easily. Otherwise, they work well for their intended purpose. The sandpaper is great for nut or saddle filing and the spare nuts and saddles are a nice added bonus.

Hated my guitar trying to fret the first fret (F chord), but after all the fools I asked said its okay, I brought the string height down from the nut slots, and my guitar plays like a dream now. You need to get the Nomad nut height measuring tools, to ensure you don't file too much, but just take it slowly and it is well worth the time and effort. All the scared chickens who just take their guitar to a luthier or guitar tech are big babies, and don't realize how easy this actually is.

I have a Fender CC-60CSE, and it came with a plastic nut and saddle. The nut was a little low on the high E string, so it had to be changed. I like DIY challenges, but this was hardly a challenge. The nut was almost perfect right out of the package. I probably spent five minutes sanding it to get it perfect and polished. Several people have criticized the files in this kit. They are delicate, but they aren't intended for cutting, just dressing the existing slots. They're fine for that purpose.Although the nut height was spot on, the saddle was a little too tall on my guitar. I strongly recommend a nut/saddle sanding jig tool. Using a nice, metal jig I bought on Amazon, I easily got the saddle to the right size. It dropps in perfectly.Anyway, the action has been corrected. The neck of my guitar can now be much straighter without buzzing on the high E string. I liked that I could adjust, play, and adjust again until things were exactly what I wanted. If you have any experience building models or doing wood working, this was stupid simple. The guitar sounds better too.

Have an inexpensive thin-body guitar with a shallow sound. Once I installed the bone nut and saddle, wow! What a difference. The dimensions fit the generic guitar well without much adjustment. Well worth the money. Makes me wonder why manufacturers don't just put in bone nuts and saddles instead of the cheap plastic ones. A huge difference, makes the cheap guitar sound like a much more expensive one. One comment: why are people so obsessed with low-action on their guitars?! That makes it prone to dreaded fret buzz. Since I use silk and steel strings, E-flat tuning, and fingerpick and strumming with a full range of force, allowing the strings lots of space to vibrate and project forcefully is quite satisfying as a player. I left the full height of the saddle on 3 of my guitars, and they all play great! Try it, before shaving down the height. You can always sand it down later, but you can't add height back.

My Fender acoustic came with a good bridge but the nut was cheaply made from plastic. This offered a great, inexpensive upgrade and the sandpaper and tools were an added bonus. Also having an extra set that I will use to upgrade my Ovation is a plus. This greatly improved the sound of my Fender but I did need to spend some time researching proper string heights to get the action right where I wanted it. But again, this set provided the necessary tools.

I feel like this set is worth it just for the additional nuts/bridges, but the files and sandpaper make this a really good set to learn guitar maintenance with. I replaced the bridge on my junker as the original bridge was plastic and was flexing on the B and high e strings. The new bridge feels like a way higher quality than the old one even if it's not really anything special. The only thing to be aware of is the smallest 2 or 3 files are so thin, you're basically flossing with nut with them. Still does what it's supposed to though. I recommend getting a String Action Ruler so you know exactly how much you need to file the bridge with the included sandpaper so you get the action you want.

Having had no experience in replacing a guitar bridge, I didn't want to break the bank in doing so. I thought this kit came with a good set of tools and was an inexpensive way of upgrading from the plastic bridge on my old Yamaha Guitar.----The two bridges arrived with the sandpaper and set of files. I used a nut and saddle sander purchased also from Amazon to lower the overall action of the bridge to the same depth as my previous bridge. It really couldn't have been easier. The only real problem I suffered was that I needed a bit more sandpaper for the job. This was probably more due to my inexperience rather than anything else.----The groove files were a little daunting purely to the massive choice of diameters available, but after starting with smaller sizes, it soon became apparent which files should be used to widen the grooves for the thicker strings.----In the space of twenty minutes and a handy online tutorial, I successfully replaced my original bridge whilst also lowering the action of my upper strings which was my main objective. My guitar has been transformed from an unplayable factory mess, to a much more balanced, enjoyable and most importantly, playable layout. I'm over the moon that I could do this myself. I would be far more confident in trying this with my more expensive instruments. Having said that, it's very easy to switch back to the original bridge.----All in all, this is a very cheap and easy way to get into basic bridge maintenance and to be a little more hands on with your instrument. Well worth a shot.

The nuts included were a perfect fit, but the saddle was way too narrow. I really just needed the nuts. I thought the files might be OK for one use, but they really don't seem to work at all.
