This isn't as foolproof as they market it.It is easy enough to use this to hang a single picture.The problem is when you are trying to hang a second picture at the same height as the first. You can hang the second picture on the hook and press a dimple into the wall, but the second just doesn't seem to line up with the first unless you measure the height of the bottom of your hanging hook from your nail hole.That makes sense, obviously, but what winds up happening is that this tool makes a hole in your wall, and then you have to make a second hole in your wall, an inch higher, for the nail, so that the bottom part of the bracket is where the first hole is.So you're still measuring no matter what.Also, the rubber used to keep the tool from sliding is greasy, and leaves black streaks on the wall. These marks will be above the top of your picture, so you have to hope they come out of whatever finish you have because they *will* be visible.

This is a great tool for hanging pictures, assuming the max width fits.For heavier items, the arms tend to droop, which might not be a bad thing (assuming the droop is even).It's not wide enough for all pictures (obviously), but seemed to be slightly short for a few pictures we had.My biggest complaint is, when using the arms, you have to push in to make the hole punch. However, the center hole punch (not needed for the picture..if you're using the arms), tends to also make a mark.The hardware provided is pointless, as the nails and such are so small, i doubt it'd hold up anything of significance.

Once I figured out how to use the item it was a lot easier and quicker to hang pictures with different types of hangers accurately. Two minor complaints, it’s cheap plastic and it can be difficult to attach the unit on certain hanger types. Perfect for cable hanging.

I highly recommend this frame placement and nail/screw marking device for most projects. Making it quick and easy to align and hang my frames. It has a limited min/max width so be aware of that before affixing your frame hangers.
