For years I used metal egg rings with mixed results. The egg leaked from the bottom and sometimes got into the bracket that holds the handle and that was hard to clean--I found they only leak if I get the ring too close to the curve of the pan side.I start the eggs with no butter or oil on the rings or in the pan (the first time I used the rings I coated them in butter. That was a bad idea. I found it not necessary as the eggs don't stick at all in a good nonstick pan or griddle and also, it makes washing them that much more difficult.I like my eggs easy over and I found that I can remove the rings after the egg white is pretty much cooked and then flip the eggs over, this is when I baste the eggs with a little butter. These silicone rings worked better than I expected.

I guess you get what you pay for. I've tried these on both side of the rings. And they leak either way. I tried with 3 and 4 in the pan. My pan is not warped.

But since the silicone doesn't conduct heat at all they also don't give you crisp edges, and cooking time may require a slight adjustment vs metal rings

The only issue I have with these is that the egg tends to stick to the rings and makes cleanup a hassle, other than that they make perfect little round eggs.
