Created in the tradition of Matryoshka folk art dolls from Russia, which originated at the end of the nineteenth century, our doll designs feature contemporary themes such as animal and pet groupings, sea life, painted ladies, and more.
Nesting dolls are made of wood, which is seasoned and dried. The wood is then turned in a lathe. Turning the doll shapes on a lathe and sizing them to fit into each other takes skill and years of woodworking experience. No precise measurements are made during the manufacture of a set of dolls. The woodworker has the intuition to know the specific sizes required.
The doll shapes then proceed to the painting area. Detailed decals are applied to some of the dolls when it is impossible to achieve intricate details by hand painting. Each doll in a set is then painted by hand with non-toxic acrylic paints. Finally a lacquer finish is applied to preserve and protect the dolls. Each nesting doll is unique because they are intricately hand painted as opposed to being mass-produced by machines.

Brought for a Christmas present, it was a little smaller than I expected (I didn't look at the height). But apart from being smaller than expected I know it's going to make a fantastic present!

Really cute nesting set. I like that it's woodland animals since many of these sets are very girly. The felt for the moose antlers do not stay in well at all. They could be glued since it is the "outside" animal, but we have chosen just to leave them off since it is played with by a toddler.

I love the hand painted woodland animals on this set of nesting dolls as well as the adorable felt ears for the moose. The pieces fit very tightly together, so much so, that my husband waxed the rims of each piece to allow them to open and close more easily (since my toddler likes to take the bigger ones apart).

I applied a little wax so I could more easily separate and reattach figures. They seem sturdy and are well painted

I work with wildlife which is why these appealed to me, and I'm so glad they did. Just an adorable, well constructed set. You will definitely need to wax them a bit (a staple of any well constructed set of nesting dolls, so this is not a negative), but after that, they're good to go. Super stoked!

The big moose stack arrived with the moose antlers separate made of a felt. There were holes in the moose head to place the antlers. Came with no instructions. I tried several times to put the felt antlers in the moose head and they would not stay in. I was forced to use glue to hold the antlers in but could never get them to fit and set as the picture showed.

Dolls are exactly as described and shown. Size is perfect for children to play with. One downside is that most of the dolls were really tight and difficult to open. That was easily fixed with some sandpaper, and now my childcare children are loving playing with these dolls. Even with the need for some sanding, I'm still giving these dolls 5 stars because they're great for the price and they're serving their purpose well. I will be ordering more sets from this company.

This is a cute idea, but the quality is poor. The pieces have rough edges, it feels like it will crack easily. The moose ears will not stay in. The worst problem is that the bottom part of the smallest piece is stuck inside the next piece. I can't even pry it out, so you can't get the full effect of this set. The pieces are also a little hard to put together and take apart. I don't know why the small piece is stuck but if I keep trying to pry it out, it's going to break. I would like to get my money back, if possible. It's a pain to have to send it back, and I was really looking forward to including this in a package to send to my granddaughter in France. I can't do that now, because the package had to be sent already, and it's much too expensive to just send this on its own. Quite disappointed!
