I’ve spilled hot chocolate on my light blue carpet, more than I can count, & it left a HORRIBLE brown stain. I’ve had carpet cleaners come out, and they applied their so-called spot remover. They would shampoo my carpet and leave. When my carpet dried, the stain was STILL there, and I paid for that crap that they use. I tried them again, to no avail. Well, the stain just stay there for 25 years, what could I do. I saw the reviews on this product, and was rather skeptical. I tried using it, out of desperation, KNOWING it was going to be the same old thing, the stain will still remain there. I applied it. I never did go back to look at it the following day, I had forgotten about it. It wasn’t until I was getting something out at my bed side drawer, that I noticed the stain was gone, and was in full shock. I then took it to another room, my kitchen. Half carpet half itile. There were some dark stains there too from 25 years ago; a different dark stain from something else, and the stain came out nicely!! I HIGHLY recommend this product!!!!

Never did I imagine life would bring me here, to a place where I am writing a review for carpet spot cleaner, yet... here we are. The world needs to know that this is the best carpet and rug spot cleaner ever.A little backstory: our cat is a POS and barfs on our entryway rug as a little hobby of hers. Of course, the rug is gray and white. Her barf is orange. Could she barf on the floor where it would be a simple wipe up? Sure. But where’s the fun in that? No, this cat has to strategically vom into the crevices of the rug’s pattern. P.S. She’s healthy, just a jerk. So, we got a brand new entryway rug the other day. Same grey and white pattern, because orange and brown doesn’t go with our decor. Wake up this morning, and guess who puked up an entire portion of Meow Mix on the rug? That’s right - our cat.Enter: Bissell carpet and rug cleaner. After getting rid of the more solid chunks (sorry for the visual), it was time for the Bissell spray to do its thing. We sprayed, we waited, we blotted, we repeated. And guess what? The rug is fine!If you need a carpet and rug spot cleaner spray, look no further. This Bissell spray is barf-removing magic.

As far as cleaning goes, this does a pretty decent job for spot cleaning carpets and to a lesser extent, my microfiber couch. I don’t have a carpet shampooer so I only use this to treat stains with thus far good results, although nothing is a replacement for a professional deep clean. I have a few kids, a dog, and a husband who doesn’t take his shoes off in the house, so more often than not I don’t even know what the stain is that I’m treating. This does pretty well on everything I’ve tried. Sometimes a little too well, though....due to how precise the spray is, there can be distinct borders on a treated area despite me trying to blend the edges in when I spray it.My other gripes with the product are its noxious smell which I don’t feel great about having around children and pets (we usually opt for natural products, but as our home is a rental, I’m careful to keep the carpet in the same condition we found it in and thus make an exception for this stronger product on the carpets which can’t just be tossed in the wash). I feel it’s probably not the healthiest product to use in areas that can’t be rinsed after treatment / where small kids crawl and then put their hands in their mouths etc., so I intend to use this sparingly only on set-in stains. I also don’t particularly care for the spray nozzle, which can be difficult to accurately aim without overspray / waste and using easily twice as much product as necessary with each use. I would prefer a traditional spray bottle.I’ve only just recently received it and have used it on my cream (almost white) microfiber couch and light-colored carpet with good to “meh” results, but it remains to be seen if the treated areas will attract dirt in the long term as soapy cleaners are prone to do in the long term. I’ve included a photo of my stairs which are a really high-traffic area, so I should know within a few weeks if the treated area will attract dirt. The other photo is of a spot on my couch that was only reduced by maybe half and left a noticeable border, so it definitely doesn’t work for everything and not without its risks of lightening. Definitely do a spot test and let dry for 24 hours before committing to applying it in a more noticeable place.

We had 2 very special cats. I wont elaborate on why they were so special for personal reasons. I grew up with a dog and these two cats were my first. One of them was starting to struggle from age and we decided to simply deal with the fact that older cats cannot often make it to the litter box. After doing our best with trying to deal with our slightly older cat when he was unable to navigate to the litter box, it became very apparent our home was what I called, "under the constant assault" as it became clear he was sadly deteriorating and soiling carpets so badly that we had only 1 humane option especially because our children were breathing in that unmistakable stench which was also likely causing hazardous bacteria, etc. to spread throughout our home. Even after a professional carpet cleaning company couldn't wipe out the remaining eye-watering smell, I chose to try different cleaners on the worst spots myself. The ONLY product that entirely eliminated remnants of affected areas was this specific Bissell cleaner. It was remarkable how fast the stains and odors vanished. Our second cat is beginning the same phase but now we have the right cleaner for that particular problem. Bissell may want to give their R&D department raises in wages. And, I am quite serious about that.
