We live in Texas so our heat pump is going all the time and mold quickly starts growing in the furnace panels. Got a quote from a company on installing these and they wanted $500 for one light, around $1k for two in the furnace and one underneath the filter area, and for the $1600 package weโd get lifetime replacement of those bulbs. I said screw that and told my husband Iโm buying and installing these myself. Didnโt take that long, less than an hour. I had to drill the two holes where the wires come out and then cut a square of insulation out of the inside of the furnace wall where the magnetic square goes. Plug in and youโre all set!

Works great. My coil had mold spots all over, but itโs difficult to remove what is between the aluminum fins. So I installed this is mine, and several other coils with the same issue. Within 3 months the mold is killed and longer has black spots! (This is in FL as well where your coil can be soaking wet for months straight. But. There is No Caution sticks warning not to look at the light! Nor can I find inexpensive caution stickers for this) if you donโt know better you could damage your eyes just changing the air filter. I have my UV light about 7โ above the filter as the coil is at a 45 degree slant.. I also have a shiny galvanized hazard pan below the filter rack about 20โ. If I leave the filter in place for 2 months the filter had holes burned through it from the UV.. I think this is aggravated by the reflection of the pan, because other vertical mounted units like mine that do not have a hazard pan below have not experienced this in 2 month intervals filter change.

Currently I have this installed directly in my return vent while I'm still testing and verifying its longevity. I didn't want to put any permanent holes anywhere for other installation methods until I knew that it wasn't going to burn out in a couple of days time. So far, it's working very well it's very easy to install, it's basically just a matter of drilling a hole, with an included 1 in drill bit, or if you have good access you can just directly put it inside the air handling unit with a magnetic bracket that's also included. I can't really say anything about lifespan yet, but the product does look very well made. In comparison to other items of similar usage, this seems to be a pretty good price point. It's pretty bright, I have put it inside the return vent at a location where the light is somewhat subdued so that the UVC light isn't reaching mine or other visitors eyes when they're in the house. But it seems more than bright enough to do the job it's being employed to do. The size is perfect, I would think that it would be easy to install in just about any normal sized ductwork.

I ordered this product for my 1 ton front return A/H which has limited space.The description said 9" long from the end of the bulb to the end of the magnet, however it is wrong and the size is about 17".The second issue is the bracket is not what describes on the listing, the listing shows small U magnetic holder which looks perfect for my small area, however it came with bigger brakes that looks like Z.Seller should be aware of this issues.

I got a quote of $425.00 per unit (I have 2 units) from my local HVAC contractor to install these. For that amount they should have done my laundry, cleaned the windows, AND cooked me a steak dinner too! UV lights are a good thing to have in your air handlers to eliminate mold, but installing them yourself is easy if you can read directions and have a few basic tools. (drill and screwdriver) It also saves you big money as this is a very high profit item for contractors.

The product arrived as described and the instructions were complete. The included materials (magnetic mount, metal drill bit) were great. The length of cord was excellent (using power adapter).
