When you pay this much for an item you expect it to work for a little while. I bought this last year and used it two times. Worked just fine. This year I get it out and run it two times again. The second time was the end of it. When I started using it this second time I had noticed some oil or grease coming out of it. It looked very dark and thick. It definitely wasn't engine oil. The only think I can guess is the gear box has oil or grease in it and has become opened some how. About this same time I noticed this I went to start it again and the pull string busted off. I have pulled that thing maybe 15 times in the years of using it. I took it off thinking I could maybe replace it but it looks like it is an all enclosed thing and can't be replaced. You would have to buy the entire top part where it resides I think and I don't see where you can buy parts for it. I am not sure I would pay to replace it anyways with the gear box leaking like it is. Not sure if that can be repaired. Just a piece of junk.

It’s great for a small garden. Decent power and good depth.

I am generally disappointed with the quality or functionality of cheap tools. This worked better than I had anticipated! Today I was able to dig up several inches of incredibly hard ground with plenty of large rocks and roots in it for a new concrete fire pit area and walkway. The nice thing about this being lightweight is that when it hits a big rock or large root it just jumps off the ground. That might seem like a reason to get a bigger model. But I'd rather it jump than bend the blades or break shear pins, axles etc. Of course I wouldn't try to till an acre plot with it, but for small areas it is perfect. I used it for several hours today and I was very pleased with how much easier the job was than if I were to just use a shovel to dig. The ground is so hard that even my 220lbs jumping on a round point shovel would only get in about an inch usually. This thing just tore through it. Pretty good with controlling depth as well.

I set out to get a tiller attachment for my weedwacker. When I ran across this for the same price I thought--What the Hay? Coming out of the box it was packed nicely. Seemed better slightly better than average quality. The instructions made assembly more difficult than simply throwing them in the trash. Once assembled I added the oil and fuel and it fired first pull and ran STRONG. NO WAY an attachment would be this powerful. My soil is sandy in FL so it was not really a challenge for this machine. It is highly maneuverable as well. If I only get ONE use out of this thing (will probably get more) it was well worth it!

I just received the tiller in a well packaged sturdy box. Instructions and video were well done to properly explain the installation process which was not difficult. After installation I added the enclosed oil, some gasoline, push the primer bulb several times and it started up only after a couple pulls. Runs nicely and has the power needed. Very pleased with the results as I’ve had two Mantis tillers in the past and this one is just as good imo at a lower price point. Hopefully it will continue to work as it does now, which I expect it to do.

This little tiller is a beast! After putting it together and looking at it, I wasn’t expecting very much. Kept all the packaging very handy as I thought I’d b packing it back up within the hour. To my surprise, this little thing is a work horse! Don’t get me wrong, u wouldn’t want to till up a quarter acre garden with it, but for my 20’x30’ garden, it took about 2 hours to an 8” depth! Perfect for small gardens or churning up ur raised beds. Very light and easy to move around. Word of warning! DO NOT get to close to fencing! I did and it ran right up it! Took about 20 minutes to cut the fence out of the tines but had no ill effect on it. Highly recommend

Read instructions in a few minutes (should have taken longer) Had to take one handle off in order to get the cable clamp on. Handles are somewhat tight for weak hands to tighten. Handle adjustment works, but seems to be useless as one should take several one-inch deep cuts for best performance in very hard soil.Dug a 16" wide, 4" deep, 35 foot long trench in four passes over 30-minutes. Trench is for small walkway, and to be filled with concrete with tile décor. Saved days of hand-digging, sweat-producing work.Machine is as advertised, light weight, very tough on hard-packed dirt, and is worth the price. It is according to Bilt Hard a new product, thus not too many reviews. It is made in China, what isn't these days. The cutting blades are Magnesium Hardened Steel.Job for which it was purchased is done, but it will be put to more test later in the spring when I did up the entire back yard for new planting.

Had a couple of projects I was going to need a tiller for this season, so I bought this for the same price I was going to pay renting one twice from HD, and not have to mess with gas - wins. Bought based on reviews, completely agree. Light, easy to assemble (note the cable clips), does a great job busting up our clayish soil, just have to watch for things getting wrapped up (vines, etc) and rocks like any other tiller. Wish it had a variable speed trigger, but for the price, it's perfect and does the job, assuming it lasts, but it feels and operates solidly. Made quick work of breaking up an 8x8 pad to level out, and doing a flower bed turn next. Wish I would have had it last season now.
