I was really disappointed with the Bike Chain Kit, Single/6/7/8/9/10/11/12 Speed Multi-Function Bike Mechanic Repair Kit. While it comes with a variety of tools and accessories, the quality just doesn’t live up to expectations. The chain breaker tool is flimsy and doesn’t feel sturdy when using it, which made me nervous about breaking or damaging my chain. The bike link plier with hook didn’t work as smoothly as I had hoped, and it was difficult to use to properly connect or remove links. The included 6 pairs of bicycle buckles are nice to have, but the quality of the buckles was also lacking. After a few uses, I found them difficult to latch properly, which caused issues during my bike repairs. The overall construction of the kit feels cheap, and I didn’t feel confident in the longevity of the tools. For the price, I expected better quality and durability. This kit might be fine for occasional, light use, but I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone looking to do frequent or serious bike repairs. There are definitely better options available for those in need of a more reliable, well-made bike repair kit.

This went on a new to me older triathlon bike, with 2x9 gearing, mostly Shimano 105 components. After painting it, I wanted to replace all the parts that were showing their age.The good: This chain is every bit as smooth as the original, and I really like that it comes with several master links. The not so good: the included chain breaker and master link pliers are definitely not made by Park Tools. I managed to bend the pin on the first use - fortunately, didn't damage the links in any way. And there is a spair pin in the handle. The master link pliers are nothing spectacular, and were a bit difficult to use, but they got the job done. The chain itself gets 4.5/5 stars, and that's why I bought this kit. The tools served their purpose this time, so can't gripe too much for bonus tools.

The kit works, but the quality is lacking. It was nice to learn how to change my own chain. Since the tools were breaking upon their first use, had to use some other tools to assist with breaking the old chain and sizing the new one. Unfortunately, this chain broke in only a year. The original chain lasted over six years with similar use.

The chain thickness measured 6.1-6.3 mm. I think the spec for this 10 speed chain is 6.0 mm. This thickness had no effect on my derailleur to easily shift gears. In fact it only took a few very minor adjustments to smoothly run thru all the gears. The pin removal tool almost maxed out while removing the pins on this new chain. It was way too fragile and it was very apparent to me that this tool was incapable of pin removal on my old chain. In fact it took quite a few good hammer blows using a punch to remove the old pins. Easy to see why folks are destroying the removal tool.

I purchased the Single, 6/7/8/etc speed kit in order to replace a chain on an ebike that doesn't have a multi-speed chain but it does have a chain tensioner that's really only there to assist with maintenance on the back wheel. Due to circumstances, it decided it wanted to work as a derailleur instead so it's constantly pushing my chain onto the outer section of the motor hubI really only bought this kit for the chain, the chainbreaker tool, and the master links. I only used those parts of the kit. I did not use the other bits that help spacing the chain or holding it in place while working on it.And those parts of the kit worked like an absolute charm! I was able to quickly (Less than 10 minutes) delink my current chain and pull it off, remove my chain tensioner (using my own hex wrench not part of this kit) put the new chain on, measure it by eye, shorten it a little using the chain breaker so it wouldn't have excessive slack, put the master links in place and finish this project that has been bothering me for months! The tool some people show in pictures and video look different from the one I received as mine is all black and there isn't a slide-over handle but rather it screws into the bottom of the tool. It's much sturdier than I expected given some of the poor reviews. The pin may look misaligned as you crank the handle, this is perfectly normal and it is why you need to make sure you have the chain where it needs to be! Universal rule: Outer section (there are two /_ on the tool.) is what you want to use for removing links or putting them back together. The inner section that's closest to the handle is what you use for loosening the chain if you accidentally make a link too tight so it no longer swivels freely. Unless you are loosening a chain, DO NOT use the inner section closest to the handle. A neat little function of this tool is the knob on the outside of it. The last tool I used did not have one of these and it made it harder to line up the pin while keeping it stable (turning the crank without that extra piece clamping it could cause the chain to shift in the tool) and that old, unrelated tool ended up ruining my chain by bending the outer sections of the chain inwards, hence my reason for getting a chain with the new tool kit. Once you get the chain where you need it to be, turn that knob and it will clamp the chain in place and it makes things so much easier.I am not 100% bicycle maintenance savvy, but this kit saved me a great deal of hassle and money. If I need to replace a chain in the future, or I just want a backup tool and spare chain, I'd definitely buy this one again!Small edit: The handle on the tool has a little storage space inside it. There was a replacement pin for the tool inside.

I read reviews about problems with the chain break tool. Worked great for me, but you should have a few mechanical skills. Carefully line up the pin with the CENTER of the roller pin. Then slowly turn the handle and watch to be sure the pin doesn’t “walk” from the middle! Turn slowly and it will dislodge the roller and complete removal.Remove the chain from bike and line up next to the new chain to determine where to “cut” the new chain. Use the same chain break method to cut new chain to same length. Now install the new chain on the bike and connect! Easy peasy!Chain quality looks good for most use unless you are riding more than 100+ miles/week or racing. Overall excellent value!
